post workout shake when cutting

guys, i've been getting conflicting advice on my post workout shake recently. i've not been hardcore cutting but trying to loose fat slowly while holding onto muscle. at the moment i have been having 40g whey, 30g dextrose and 30g malto in my pwo shake. now some guys tell me i need carbs pwo no matter what, some guys say just whey will do, other guys are saying that any more than 20g whey post workout is a waste. so i would like to get a general idea of what everyone else has, post workout, whilst cutting. thanks

It's a dependent upon the complete nutrition set up, goals and how your body reacts to training and the training you're doing but... I would go for carbs peri training, if you're going to eat them than that would probably be the best time however this doesn't mean: 1) you have to have loads 2) that you have to rely on basically sugar as you are above. If it is a very strict cut, for the purposes of general health I usually recommend whole foods you might not have elsewhere like fruit. If you're using peri training nutrition you have more of a chance to play around with sources a bit e.g. Before and during: ....whey protein with a little palatinose and a little maltodex Just after: .... whey with a little oats/berries/small banana/etc

thanks for the replies, good post drewsky. i train at 6.30 in the morning so a pre workout meal 2 hrs b4 is impossible! however at the moment i've been having superpump250 with a scoop of whey and a scoop of malto about 30 mins prior to training. i've now decided to ditch the dextrose for whenever i decide to bulk again. so i'm now thinking 40g whey, 5g creatine and 30g malto for post workout. does that seem ok for a cut? or should i completely ditch all carbs pwo? bearing in mind i'll be doing hit training and 30 mins cardio after that. also, anyone got any info on the 20g whey pwo is a waste thing? coz i'd save a lot of money if 2 scoops is too much!

"trying to loose fat slowly" Start with the little things. suger in coffee. Whey shake milk or water. Leaner meats . Carb sources? Daz

"trying to loose fat slowly" - by this i meant 'i'm cutting, but its not a hardcore cut' Start with the little things. suger in coffee. Whey shake milk or water. Leaner meats . Carb sources? Daz always have my whey with water. i'll stick to 40g whey with 30g malto post workout, see what happens. already sorted the rest of my diet, was just wondering about pwo nutrition when cutting. in james' cutting plan he recommends whey only after training. this is why i asked if carbs were essential (pwo) when cutting.

Hiya mate, when cutting I always have CNP Pro Recover, all the way upto my last training session. Take for example John Hodgson, he has Recover all the way upto the show. And even adds a banana. I would stay with carbs PWO. But as forddee says above, if James has a plan then stick to it and see how it works for you.

I've recently cut out Malto & Dextrose from PWO and just have 30g Whey & Casein, 5g Creatine Mono & 5g BCAA as I'm on the Anabolic Diet and so far it has worked ok for me!
Nothing is worth more than this day...
