protein shakes and supps? 13 October 2011 23:00 (permalink)
Hi all, ive really been getting i to my training and im really concerned about taking protein shakes and supps. I was wondering am im worrying over nothing? and just take my shake after my workout and my supps after dinner. I know this sounds silly but im not use to taking anything, not even a pill for an headache. Ive never been ill and just wondered will it do me any harm?

    Hi,

firstly you need to realise that protein is not a medicine, it is a food source, just like tuna or eggs or milk.   So a convenient way to get a bit more protein into your diet.

Also when and how many you take totally depends on the rest of you diet, as its soul purpose is to supplement your diet, so that should be the first thing you look into.

      Hi and welcome.

As INLT says, shakes are just a convenient food source and not a replacement for 'proper' food.

Dolly, whey protein is a great source of protein thats all! You will damage yourself if you dont have enough protein. Dont worry about taking it, it wont damage you and you will notice the recovery time is shorter with it!
