on your elbow? I suffer from it but never had it there, sounds more like exzema (sp) I have various creams and ointments, diprobase, calciprocol, bethamsone (sp)

It's not something that 'spreads' per se ime. it can come and go if you have it but usually in the same place, it just gets bigger, but creams etc keep it down or get rid completely. And you can get it on the elbows but I never have personally either. Bethamethasone gets rid of it on my scalp so it should work elsewhere, otherwise, like shields144 said, the sun will help. A visit to a sunbed might work but I'd check with your doc. Other than that, before you see your GP, moisturiser like E45 helps. Stress and alcohol make mine worse so try and keep away from those if you can. Hope that helps.

yeah i have it mildly. flared up really badly when i was 13-14, luckily it slowly disapeared, and now im just left with small patch's on my elbows and knees... barely notice them they just look like old scars.. the doctor wont be able to do anything for them Im afraid. He will prescribe dovex creme which is a steroid type lotion, and you will be told to keep it moisterised. The best thing to do is just try and forget about it, stress will make it alot worse! sorry to be negative but you just have to live with it bro.

I got a small patch of it and applying an OTC hydrocortisone solution got rid of it in a matter of days.

Various treatments for Psoriasis, depending on severity. Regular moisturising is a must, E45 is a good water based moisturiser, but you may need something heavier - try applying 3-4 times per day or more often if required. Your GP can advise you on additional treatments. Flare-ups can be controlled with (cortico-) steroid creams, Tar preparations, Vit D compounds (Calcipotriol) etc. Hydrocortisone is available over the counter but is a mild steroid. Use of steroid creams should generally be limited to flare ups due to side effects (skin thinning, changes in pigmentation). UV therapy is used for refractory Psoriasis, hence why people find it often improves in the sun. Jimbo

I had 85% of my body covered with psoriasis, including areas of my face which is extremely rare. It came out of nowhere after a stressful part of my life. I went private and I agreed to test Dovobet and give a written testimony dependant on the results. Within 3 weeks it cleared up my psoriasis, the only additional factor was very mild sunbed use twice per week. Since it clearing it has never came back, Ive only ever had 1 random scale that will appear around an elbow area but it never progresses further than that. I used it very sparingly as it's a vitamin d + steroid cream so it can thin the skin. Absolutely brilliant product as far as Im concerned.

Don't worry unnecessarily mate. Just cos you have it on your elbows doesn't mean it's going to spread. I get it on my elbows from time to time - mainly when I'm stressed or when my skin gets dry. I just use some OTC hydocortisone cream (Hc45) and then slap some E45 over the top as Hc45 dries the skin out. Normally clears up in a few days. The severity and extent of psoriasis varies widely and for a lot of people is very treatable so don't stress yourself out. Have a chat with your GP if you're concerned and they can advise about a suitable treatment based on the extent of your symptoms. Take it easy bro.
