How I mean is that the muscle building process isn't complete as DOMS ends, some will argue this point but the process is as follows :
Trauma > micro-tears > repair > growth
The trauma being you forcing you muscles to deplete there glycogen levels.
Micro years being the muscle breaking down and rupturing due to the incapability to sustain such a high level of trauma.
Repair is then kick started to replace all the necessary glycogen and to replace damaged tissue to return to a healthy state.
DOMS OCCURS DURING THE REPAIR STAGE
Growth is after the muscle has replaced damaged muscle tissue an is built upon to cope with the excessive stress in future instances.
Then we increase intensity and repeat the process again. Your diet as a whole and the readily available protein in your body will determine how quick each process takes to complete.
