(ticteaser)

 Thanks Kitty.

It's given me hope that once the thyroxine kicks in I'll lose weight quicker than I used to (with exercise, obv) and will be able to get rid of that last little bit that always eluded me. I'm sure the owner of my gym used to think I was cheating with my diet or something as I was in there all hours doing as I was told but not getting the results.

Little steps though, I need the energy to go to work first. I kept trying to keep it up even though my doctor wanted to sign me off, but my boss sent me home in the end. I'm not much use at dealing with loony little ASBO kids when I'm this tired!
Re:Hello hello!!! (kitty)

Bloody hell mate, that's a bummer. At least it gives you an explaination as you say but also shows how well you obviously did work to keep at the level you used to do and didn't immediately think it was something like that.

Good to see you, I don't do bumbook so do keep in touch with how you get on once you start the meds. x

Re:Hello hello!!! (ticteaser)

Hi all, here's another brief fly-by-night visit from your's truly to catch up with y'all!

Have recently been diagnosed as hypothyroid by my GP after feeling ****e for a long time. I just thought I was being a lazy cow the last year or so, or that all my qualifications/ work etc were taking it out of me.

Then I packed in smoking and BOOM, I fell to bits: sleeping 10-12 hours a night but still being tired, no energy to put one foot in front of another, tearful, all the symptoms of depression, and more. Apparently smoking can mask an underactive thyroid as it's a stimulant and I could've had it for years. This could explain why I've always struggled with my weight and diets never seemed to work no matter how much effort I put in at the gym too. I know it's not an excuse to be fat (as some people seem to use it) but it explains why I've always had to work my ass off just to stay normal.

I've put on about 5-6 stone in the last 18mths to 2 years, and that's not from overeating - that's stopping exercise. The perfect example of how strict I am with food is a conversation with my mum shortly before I was diagnosed.

Me: "I think I might have an underactive thyroid."
Mum: "Don't be silly, you just eat far too much, and you eat in-between meals!"
Me: "When do I eat in-between meals?"
Mum: "You had a Kitkat a few weeks ago!"

Ok I don't follow a BBing diet anymore, but I have 3 sensible meals a day (about 1200-1500 kcal) and a treat maybe once a week. I eat too many carbs, but not a ridiculous amount. That does not equate to a 6 stone weight gain!!

I've got my 2nd set of bloods tomorrow and should hopefully be starting my meds very soon - I just can't wait to have the energy to get back into the gym and shift some of this lard. I'm under no illusion that thyroxine will make my extra weight fall off instantly, but at least I'll actually be able to work out to try and shift it - at the moment just walking about is sometimes too much.

Hope you're all doing well here though. Have seen some pics on Facebook and people are looking really great!

Lots of exhausted but hopeful love x x x
Re:Hello hello!!! (ticteaser)

Now there's a plan, heh heh!

I tried to get up early to do some morning cardio the other day as evenings obviously aren't working for me, and it almost killed me. I was like a zombie by lunch and the kids ran rings around me all afternoon. I need my 8 hours - maybe if I go to bed as soon as I get home it might work! :D

Re:Hello hello!!! (ticteaser)

Hellooooooo! Once again just a quick check in while I've got some time - seem to be managing once every few months or so!

Been having a look through journals and on people's Facebook and everyone seems to be doing great - Tan you're looking huuuge! Welshy good luck competing and stick with the diet!

I'm still fat and not getting smaller - haven't seen inside of gym for yonks and seem to live on cereal bars and sandwiches. Am really f**ked off and wondering whether this is all worth it if I'm that fat I don't want to be seen in public! Kids are still mad. We've had some great fights in the last few weeks including some headstamping and someone throwing a chair at me. Am coming home with headaches from all the shouting I'm doing!

However on the positive side I'm bloody minted due to never going out and having no life so am off to Dubai for half term - it's meant weeks off working like a maniac so I wouldn't have to take work with me, but it'll be worth it as I'm going to switch my brain off completely for the next week!

Good luck for this season everyone x x

Re:Hello hello!!!
