It'd be a cracking season all round! We all know that if he cant win he uses alternative methods... lol

Does anyone have any new info on the British GP? All i know is that it wont be Donnington park. I thought Silverstone was already ruled out when they left there to look at Donnington...

Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (Varg)

I think he'd be crazy to come back, for the reasons you've mentioned.
He can only lose his reputation.
Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (Red Man)

True but he still beat him and this was a while ago. Could Schumacher come back from this long out when was beaten last time when he was possibly still in his best form...

Like Daz has pointed out, he had every available ammenity at his finger tips throughout his glory years, he was not automatically the best driver. This would not be the case anymore, the car may not be the best and the competition imo is the best it has ever been...

Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (Varg)

Red Man

Alonso finished him in an inferior car...

It was very close, though!

Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (dazc)

Red Man

I agree mate, here's my main querys tho...

1. He seems to be very loyal to Ferrari. They are still paying him to be fair so who knows how strong his loyalty is?

2. Is the mercedes really going to be a top team and would he be prepared to take the risk on being mid grid fodder?

3. Does he genuinely believe that he is still good enough to be at the top of the sport and if he doesnt, would he be happy getting his ar5e spanked by younger drivers.

4. Imagine you are Schumacher... You are officially the best F1 driver on actual race wins and results, only a personal opinion will differ from the facts. Would you take the risks of points 2 and 3 above when you have nothing to prove?

Just to confirm for those who cant remember, im a major Schumacher fan but i personally dont think he could still cut it with the current crop anymore. Alonso finished him in an inferior car...

some good points mate, on the subject of schuey, im a take it or leave it person, not a fan but no real hate either.

My opinion is, and always has been that he is one of the best drivers that F1 has had, But pushed into records of truly great things, by a number of factors. Driving for ferrari, who unquestionably, for years had the quickest car on the grid, helped by huge budgets. Having a great driver like rubens as a team mate, and a team who were very strong with the team orders, and what they expected of rubens. Not once did they ever allow him to take points from schumacher. Without the team orders, im not so sure schumacher would have as many championship titles.

Im not detracting from his achievements, BUT i do think that some of it was circumstance AS WELL AS talent

so in todays climate, in a decent car, i think he would be quick but not outstanding. Probably midfield like you say.

He may well come back and prove me wrong though! In fact id love to see him back, and see how quick he really is, in a car that isnt miles ahead of most of the field
Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (Red Man)

dazc

Red Man

More than no one is denying it, its been rumoured that Mercedes want him and are prepared to spend big...
I cant see it myself but who knows? Also, there's no way that a team being put out by a group who own Lotus, would not use the specialist engineering expertise already in place at Lotus.

Whilst it isn't 'Team Lotus' from the old days with Colin Chapman throwing his hat in the air etc, there is a very real connection with Hethel and is probably as close as you are going to get in this age of prohibitive costs.

Certainly better than the LiteSpeed proposal.

Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (LewyOs)

dazc

there is so much to look forward to next season, new teams, new drivers (including sennas son!) new rules

it cannot get here soon enough!

It's Sennas nephew.
Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (dazc)

there is so much to look forward to next season, new teams, new drivers (including sennas son!) new rules

it cannot get here soon enough!

Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (LewyOs)

I vote for keep the same thread just change the title nearer the time.

I too honestly can't wait for next season either, whos going to finish where though could go so many ways.

I wonder what odds I could get on the current WCC Brawn not winning a race in 2010....
Re:Formula 1 09/10 season (Red Man)

dirtyvest

Lotus is owned by Proton.....
