Weight training is. It's the only form of exercise that can physically change the shape of the body. Swimming is a good form of cardio that uses the major muscle groups but if you're like me and don't swim that well it won't do you any good!

Re:New one here *waves* (kalbishop1234)

Swimming is the best exercise for women to get in shape.

Re:New one here *waves* (han1)

yuna

just to update I lost another 3 1/2 lbs at my weekly weigh in

Good on ya
x

Re:New one here *waves* (Girth)

 Well done
Re:New one here *waves* (flick161)

 CONGRATULATIONS!!

Re:New one here *waves* (RedHotF)

Re:New one here *waves* (Yib)

Re:New one here *waves* (kitty)

 nice one, well done
Re:New one here *waves* (yuna)

just to update I lost another 3 1/2 lbs at my weekly weigh in

Re:New one here *waves* (Yib)

Agree with above. Start out light to see what you can handle, and when it gets too easy add a little. You'll soon start to know what you can and can't handle.

Just remember, good form is important. Don't sacrifice it for more weight!

As for your set/rep scheme. What would you like to do?

You can start of with something like 3 sets of 12 or 4 sets of 10 reps, or 3 sets of 15, the list is endless. It's up to you and what you feel most comfortable. Choose one you think you'll be ok with and then stick with it for a while.. then try another and eventually you'll have a better idea of what you respond better to.
Re:New one here *waves* (Girth)

yuna

and what weight of dumbell should I start with?

Low weight easy reps
Re:New one here *waves* (yuna)

and what weight of dumbell should I start with?

Re:New one here *waves* (yuna)

quick question how many of each thing should i be doing? or just do the lot for so many minutes?

That link to the little videos helped ALOT!!! so thank you xx
Re:New one here *waves* (yuna)

aww wow thanks so much!!! off to study that link now
