Results speak louder than theory.

That said the best time to do cardio is when you are going to actually get it done most consistently.
Re:Weight training followed by cardio (buzzer)

at the end of the day its cals in v cals out.

all cardio does (besides health benefits) is burn more cals.
as posted above you can cut down with or without cardio.

ideally it would be best to do cardio and weights on sepperate days that way you can give 100% to both.

but doing cardio after weights wont do you any harm you are only doing 30mins of each so 1hr total isnt much.

Re:Weight training followed by cardio (DC77)

Sideeffectwhu

When i did my gym instructors course in 2000 the senior lecturer said that doing weights first ( this speeds the metabolism up fivefold, Then a quick energy drink to replace glycogen stores then your cardio after.

I thought this would defeat the object, I was always under the impression you want glycogen levels to be depleated so when you commence cardio you start fat burning?

Re:Weight training followed by cardio (Sideeffectwhu)

When i did my gym instructors course in 2000 the senior lecturer said that doing weights first ( this speeds the metabolism up fivefold, Then a quick energy drink to replace glycogen stores then your cardio after.

Re:Weight training followed by cardio (Papa Lazarou)

peagreen

Another perspective is to do your cardio unfueled - or first thing in the morning. I used to find this suited me, I can't lift for toffees in the morning yet could do low intensity cardio which was good on cutting for me.

Switch it around, you'll have to see what works for you.

This ^^^

Exactly what I do when I cut - 60 mins in the morning.

Towards the end of the cut i'd also do 60 mins in the evening
Re:Weight training followed by cardio (RACK)

Incredible Bulk

i do my workout, have a PWO shake and then go home...

have a meal (no carbs), then an hour or more later i head out for another hours worth of cardio

fat has come off better this time round and i've kept more muscle

This is the approach I'm hoping to adopt when I'm prep'in as I train at lunch time.

Re:Weight training followed by cardio (DC77)

Wouldnt worry about it, just fit your cardio in when you can.

Re:Weight training followed by cardio (mak)

I'm a bit limited for time so can't train, eat, have a gap then train again. or is it ok to do both on the same day?

Anyone else do both and get good results?

Any studies/articles you may have come across to prove/disprove the theory in MD?

I'm keen to know your thoughts.
CHeers,
Mak.
