I watched it in hope of an interesting intellectual debate but all I saw was some crazy power hungry American woman, who, as Reborn previously stated, appeared to be pissed off at the fact she was white. I was glad a few members of the group left, I would have done the same.

As Galenkia has said also, we are ALL racist to some degree.

Yes as above, like all animals you are born and rasied with certain prejudices. FACT, whether they are fully discriminatry or not, is up to you, your own judgement and sadly surroundings.

You are raised from birth in a white family in a predominantly white area, yeah sure you are going to be just as open to those from other cultural backgrounds as someone who was raised in Hackney, I think not.

Racism for the most part can easily be overcome by simple experience of the fear you have ie, other ethnicities/cultures. Racism is just ignorance and those that are prejudiced (again for the most part) are innocent to it through lack of eye opening experience. EVERYONE starts there,

Sadly however, when ignorance and arrogance meet, we have the popularised image of a racist, actually abusive of others from other places/backgrounds, that is not a good person to be friends with, believe me.

for fear of backlash- its going to be heavily bias towards the minorities. knowing it would be in no way informative, i didn't both. i was mildly curious to see just how stupidly they attempted to demonstrate "racism", but not enough to bother watching it.

much like a documentary on IQ and race- there was NO WAY they were gonna admit any correlation

Wasp i did laugh at that point i must admit.

Overall i think it could have been far more interesting but i suspect it suffered from the classic C4 editing of not showing it the way it was and very selective editing.

I'm not sure what i found more disturbing - the guy comparing his inability to buy a shirt to racial prejudice, or the mains womans beard

I did watch this when I was on. I didn't think it was all that great. However I was honestly shocked when that blonde 40 year old woman, who is also a teacher admitted she was surprised a black girl had pink flesh under her skin.

WHAT THE HELL?!

I really didn't think people could be so stupid.

I'm flicking through some of the stuff recorded on our Sky+ box and the one i'm currently watching is The Event - How Racist Are You?

The program seems so forced that it's alsmost unwatchable but i am determined to watch it to the end to see what the point it.

I realise that it's intended to be an exercise for those involved to try and open their mind to understanding how illogical racism is and to what extent it goes on.

The problem for me is that is seems centred around sending in a load of people who are unaware of much of what is happening, being rude, removing anybody who stands any ground against the ludicrous behaviour and putting people under pressure.

If the point is to weed out those who stand up for themselves and the leave the weedy compliant types who you can then tell that they are more racist than they realise because they don't do enough about it?

It seems like a poor way of making a point to me. I'm not conciously racist, but am wise enough to realise that i might do something or say something unintentional at times. It would be arrogant to pretend otherwise. The whole thing is predicated on saying things like "black person gets served second - therefore racist", "white person gets served first - therefore racist" irrelevant of any of the other possibilities.

I've witnessed racism, and i've criticised it openly. I've stuck up for non-white friends equally as i've stuck up for slight, or camp or oddly dressed friends before as i'm one to support anyone.

Watching people who are giving their own accounts of what they have experienced of racism and simply discounting any other forms of prejudice is ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous watching one guy and a woman telling how they themselves have been complicit in racism but that's ok - yet because the white people are told that they are complicit and that's wrong.

Racism exists. It's wrong. Prejudice is wrong. Obviously some groups will experience it more than others and that will be based upon race/circumstance. It's amazing to me just how much people are seeing things from such a narrow perspective - especially on the side of those saying "they don't realise how bad it is - they aren't listening or learning". Erm hello neither are you

Did anybody else watch it? Got any thoughts?

Interesting as it goes on but i don't think you teach people by poking them with a stick and seeing how they react.

Unwitting racism happens.

Most common form of appearance based prejudice is against ugly/fat women.
