OK it's loosely correlated with MPB, but that's not why I'm interested. This is why it is of at least passing interest and worth further investigation.

I'm 99% certain it's safe but I'm also talking about the 20yo taking creatine '90, for the whole of their 20's, how does that effect health outcomes now at 40yo or in the next 10, 20, 30 years?

We don't know.

As I say, IMO probably nothing but something of passing interest.
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (Mobster)

LOL. Stress from worrying about going bald on creatine that's what that is LOL.

Based on my parents and relatives I should be white haired (my dad and his dad went grey at 30 and white at 40). I have a few flecks. ALL of my younger brothers, all who smoke and drink (I do drink but not as much) have far more grey hair than me. I'm the oldest. On my mums side ALL my uncles had the bald pate thing going on. I've deffo got a receding hair line, have no doubt, but it seems to stopped about an inch back from the hair line as it was.

So I ought to be more or less bald and what little hair I should have left should be white. It's neither. I also use creatine and NEVER cycle off.

Quick aside: Our DHL driver, when new, asked me about training and mentioned he was 42. He has less hair and what he has is grey. I said 'I'm 45' and he accused me of dying mine LOL!!
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (yungdest81)

Mind you, I've been going very grey recently.

Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (yungdest81)

Out of all my mates that have been using for years, none of them, me included, are going bald...yet !

Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (Mobster)

Drew Price

Still very interesting though, given the extended periods of time people use this supplement for, I will be looking out for further work.

It's for that reason that it is not of interest. We know the history of Creatine, identified back in what... 1895? Used in race horses etc and then as a supp for bodybuilders in the late 80's and early 90's. Paul Greehaff (?) et al's work was around that time. Now have we seen any indicators of male pattern baldness or a connection to it even mentioned ONCE?? On any site anywhere??

No.
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (monster supplements)

truly good point. was not supporting these claims. simply stating they had been brought to my attention through different industries. i looked into it and could not find enough evidence to persuade me. the female hair therapist said "bodybuilders use creatine and they are all bald" i doubt she was a credible case for the argument.
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (yungdest81)

Not a wise post in your line of business Adam. :)

Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (monster supplements)
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (Drew Price)

Still very interesting though, given the extended periods of time people use this supplement for, I will be looking out for further work.
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (Mobster)

Celt

Agreed, I found this interesting too, would like to learn more on this

No need. As with many of UJ's posts they appear at first glance to be of some interest. One looks at this and your thought is 'is taking creatine harming my gains? Making me bald? Unbalencing my Testosterone/DHT/Estrogen ratios?

But there's no need to think that. Take a quick and completely unscientific poll among your gym using buddies - ask them who here uses Creatine? Now count how many are bald.

Of those that exhibit male pattern baldness how many have it in the family or were showing traits before using Creatine?

I'd hazard a guess that it's doing sweet FA or next to sweet FA to increase DHT the way, as per, a single study appears on paper to show.

If you're worried get the clippers out. If not, keep taking 5g a day.
Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (uj)

BigMe

excuse my naivety, but is an increased DHT:T ratio a good, or bad thing?

ask multi-millionaire Andrew lloyd webber?

Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (BigMe)

excuse my naivety, but is an increased DHT:T ratio a good, or bad thing?

Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (Celt)

Agreed, I found this interesting too, would like to learn more on this

Re:Creatine-testosterone-dihydrotestosterone study (iaink)

Well I shave my head so baldness can do it's worst! lol

Unfortunatly I don't know the mechanisms wherein raised creatine concentrations effect areas of the hormonal system.

Certanly an interesting read.
