If you gift it then there are not fee's and no way to dispute it for you to pull it back. So basically as long as you trust me to bank transfer it back to you I'm happy. I'm with Natwest who use the fast payment method or whatever it's called but I can't make any guarantee's on time apart from I'll do the transfer online straight away

If in doubt about emptying your accounts then just open up a cash account with your existing bank. I'm with Lloyds and it's easy to be be able to transfer money back and forth instantly leaving nothing in your paypal account or your cash account. That way at least you have some flexibility and protection

from memory 4-5 working days or less for the small deposits to be sent from paypal.

As soon as you verify you can withdraw your money from the pp account, it then generally takes 4-5 days for the funds to land in your bank account.
Paypal clearly use the slow lane of the electronic ether...

Oh yeah I could do that actually. Only problem is Ive got £300 in there and I want it in the next few days ideally. Im told the verification can take a while

IB, you can set up the DD, wait for the amounts of money to be sent so that you verify the account and them just cancel the DD, it should be easy to do if you have online banking.

This then allows them to legally empty your bank account without your consent should there be a paypal dispute and they decide to screw you over in favour of the buyer, and you havent left a large enough balance in your paypal account for them to do so

The Direct Debit stops on file mate so that you can send/receive payments to/from your bank/pay Paypal fees etc etc
