starting place 11 September 2011 18:05 (permalink)
hi
i am a newbie here and am looking for a challenge.  Love lifting weights and teach fitness classes.  So would like to see if i can do the diet/training for a fitness comp, but unsure where to start or where to turn.
I am 9stone 11, BF 28%,
i currently lift weights, sun, mon, tues, thurs. split between, legs & shoulders, chest tris, back bis and then a full body circuit.

Any tips pointers would be great
thanks

First things first, I'd sack off the full body circuit - if you're training to a hard intensity you shouldn't comfortably complete a full body circuit after a week of hammering the rest of the split - you could always seperate legs and shoulders out if you want to train 4 days. Depends on your strengths and weaknesses.

      What's your diet like?

Pics might be more helpful, when someone says 28% bodyfat to me, I find it hard to picture

beyond getting diet and training sorted, get yourself to a few local shows.  once you get a feel for them, you can set yourself a major goal by entering one.  that way you will have extra motivation to stick with it.

Post teaching try to get a shake in too with/without apple depending on time... Will have a think about this tomorrow when my brain's less fried. I do know you need to make sure you are getting enough food in if you teach a lot :-)

There's a humungously large show in Glasgow this weekend at the SECC - it's the British finals :-)

                    Look on www.bnbf.co.uk
It's also worth noting, all the team who arrange the show are based in Perth and may be able to advise on someone near you that you can go and see to get some pointers :-)
I'll be there on Sunday myself, I'm helping out (not competing this year)
