sub_z3ro's super rice - 07 September 2009 14:41 ( #1 )
Following on from the awesome egg fried rice recipe on here, i've gone all out and made something a bit... special. I've made kilo batches of this and eaten it over a few days, doesn't get old.

Ingredients - 1 (bodybuilder's) portion:

125g Brown Basmati Rice
Cooking oil to suit
clove of garlic (chopped)
handful of chopped red pepper
handful of finely chopped spring onion (and/or proper onion if you prefer)
handful of chopped mushrooms
frozen peas
2 whole eggs, beaten
soy sauce
a bowl (preferably blue)

Directions:

1. Boil the rice for approx 22 mins until it's the way you like it add frozen peas for last minute of cooking. Drain and stick foil on it to keep warm.
2. In a hot frying pan add oil. Throw in garlic and onion (if not using spring). Fry to suit.
3. Throw in peppers, mushrooms - fry for 1 minute
4. Add sping onions and eggs, stir to scramble eggs
5. Mix rice with veg/egg combo in a bowl.
6. Add soy sauce and mix around to distribute the ingredients.
7. Add to bowl.
8. Nom.

Simple, awesome and super healthy.

Sounds good I love this stuff and cooking things in bulk is just so much easier.

One question though, why do you use balsmati rice and not brown wholegrain etc?

Sounds good to me, but agree with the above, fried rice should be kept chinese style! Long grain rice for me.

do you just keep it in the fridge and can it also be frozen?
