tips for a.m. training 06 November 2009 11:54 (permalink)
for the past 12 odd years i've always trained early to late afternoon, never in the a.m. however, i've now join a new gym litterally just round the corner. due to a hectic lifestyle at present with work and family committments etc i've now started training at 6a.m. 4 times a week. any tips from you guys for early morning training? i have been clean for around 14/15 months. i am training on an empty stomach apart from monster maize and bcaa's.

thanks in advance guys!!

TBH there isnt much difference then.
i actually prefer training earlier,i seem to have more energy, probably because you have been sleeping all night.

even though i find muscle maize helps, lifts are not quite as good that early

Carbs and protein in liquid form as you're doing
Maybe some coffee or similar etc as above

IMPORTANT: make sure you're standing up and moving about for about 30 mins before training, this gives your back time to compress...

cheers drew. i'm always up and moving for a bit before getting to the gym. this morning was 4 visit this week to the gym (6.10am) trained back and found my lifts were pretty much on par with an afternoon workout. so maybe as buzzer said my body just needs to adapt to early training.

Have a protein shake first thing..
also it might take your body a wee while to get use to training early when your body is use to being trained later in the day..your body will be fully fuelled for the workout pm..
