titch84 Off Season journal 03 January 2010 20:27 (permalink)
i,m starting a new journal for my comps early this year as i want to come in alot leaner and give me time to improve on weak points i competed at the anglian which i didnt place in the top 6 and competed in the mr peterborough and placed 3rd. going to carry on with my diet james coiller gave me last year up to feb time and then planning on going to see james for his help for the rest of the preap. i,m weighing around 82kg at the moment had a nice couple of weeks off and ready to get going. aiming to compete in the under 72kg at the manchester bnbf . its going to a busy year as i have got alot of work and saving to do, also starting a family with the wife and two hoildays to fit in tricky but possible so let the journey begin. any advice/ questions fire away

cool do you know anyone else competing could do with some more support. need some advice on making my chest thicker will it be more bench press than dumbell press and what cardio type best walking or biking got my thermals ready for a bike ride in the morning. cant wait till end of feb when i start cutting but need to concentrate on improving my weakpoints first.

not as yet mate, but then i dont know that many naturals lol!

for chest i personally think (slight) incline DB pressing is by far the best for chest

carido, you need to have full control of your heartrate, so if your going it outside then get a good monitor! personally i like doing it in the gym on a machine so it can be in just the right HR.

thanks for the comments flick i will practise my chest pose and take your advice onboard. i,m doing the manchester show bit of a trip but fits in with the dieting, got two holidays planned so want to get ready early so i can have a relaxed week in the middle then back on track. dont want to have to rush this preap i did a couple of shows last year but only dieted for 14weeks so want to come in alot more ripped think the longer diet will help acheive this. thats the plan.

Manchester's in a new venue this year too - pretty exciting! I did walking for my cardio in my first year, worked a treat and it gave me the time to focus on the day ahead...

Im doing the BNBF Centrals, or Welsh if Im ready early... you never know...

Riding my bike to and from work has changed the shape of my legs and hardened them in the off season. I also love the Stepper for really long stints of cardio. You can read whilst Stepping! But when I only have 20mins of morning cardio, theres nothing like a good hill walk with some ankle weights!!

trouble with using the bike outdoors when dieting, is going to be keeping heartrate under control and low enough to stay in fat burning.  if you move far enough out of fat burning and get near AT (pretty easy on a hill climb)  your going to only burning sugars, and it might take most of the session to move back into fat burning.  thats going to lead to carb and sugar cravings afterwards, and is also not a good enviroment for holding onto muscle!
