    Hi James,
I previously lost 6/7 stone following a relatively poor diet and have since gained a couple of stone back, but in this time I have become far fitter and stronger.

I would really like to lose more fat but not lose any muscle, would this be possible? My current training regime is:

Monday - Weights + Circuit Training
Tuesday - Weights + Rugby Training
Wednesday - Weights + Circuit Training
Thursday - Weights + Rugby Training
Friday - Cardio. Could be going for a run, anywhere between 6 and 10 miles. 45 minutes on the cross trainer etc.
Saturday - Golf, probably around 5-6 miles walking with a bag on my back, takes 3.5 hours.
    Sunday - Rest

    Thanks,

    Simon

      James

Well, I've started to give this a read and I'm finding it very interesting. Two things which really strike me are:

            1) What a stupid fvcked up world we have. No wonder we have so many health problems when every garage, shop, cafe has sweet sticky fatty evilness tantalizingly easy to grab.

            2) Every kid should get the nutritional, anatomical, and physiological information contained here taught to them at school.

              Hi PG

Yes, fair enough comments; and these things have been creeping up on us over the years.  It wasn't this pronounced when I was a kid!

                Hi James,

I have just sent a e-mail requesting info on how I can get this book.

Sadly my training has lapsed greatly due to an injury and stupidly I have allowed the fat to go back on, as such I am not only overweight but also feel lethargic all the time. So now my injury has been repaired I am hoping that with this book I can get back into shape again by eating healthily and training correctly.

Hi James, hashas the program changed in any way since you first published it?

As for the WW thing, my wife swears by it, and to be fair she has lost a lot of weight as a result, however even she can see the futility in the extra points one can get because she adds exercise to her weekly plan, whats the point of eating more just because you exercise, WTF?

Not following the diet at the moment, having decided to start looking after myself, in what I eat and exercise, I've been utilising some of the principles I learned when you used to do my meal plans for me, however that is principles only, not in a measured portion fashion, just a gebneral reduction of what I was eating. I also bought the HiPacc diet back then and thought I'd see how I get on with it, however I no longer have the pdf.

                                Thanks James!
My wife's a GP nurse and she runs the local diabetics clinic - she also thinks it's great, and she's said this will really help her convey info to her patients.

Ive started some cardio and im trying to get my head around whats best. ive tried cross-trainer and treadmill but yet to meet a gym bod to explain whats best. from what i read here i think im after 45 mins of cv work keeping heart rate around 60/65% peak HR. Also doing some weights but i need to investigate what i should be doing in this area. Need to work out what muscle group programe i do on each visit.

Diet ive dramatically changed: now using "PhD Diet Whey" twice a day and put a lot of thought into what and when i eat, as well as loads of water and better sleep: no more late nights!

Good stuff.  Yes, that sounds about right with heart rate, but it's also what feels right.  Weights, are you new to weight training?

I've used weights over the years, learnt most from my training days when in RAF but that's a long time ago.

Past 2 years I've put a few months in, starting around springtime, which has been 75% cv due to the desire to loose weight, but end up loosing motivation. But I've always employed weight training and alternated muscle groups to allow rest periods.

But the reality is I've never had proper tuition. Even today I had a meeting with a David Lloyd bod who just banged on about cv work, dismissed the stuff about heart rates and said just do interval training :(

I know I want to loose the gut but I do want to get some shape to my body, and I'm in with a chance now as I see the HiPaCC approach a total new way of life - good nutrition with realistic sustainability.

I think for now I'll focus on large muscles like chest, legs and back and get to know some of the local lads for advice!

Any advice greatly appreciated: I'm 44, 96kg, 6'3", gym 4 days a week and this time I'm really enjoying it thanks to the new approach to food!
