Do You Hate Your Speaking Voice?

I have hated my voice since my voice broke, when I was about 6!
 
I have got a very deep and nasely and at times inaudible speech.
 
Has anyone any ideas if this can be corrected? I mean are there speech coaches for this sort of thing?
 
I know that there are coaches for people who have really serious speech problems, but are there any ways of retraining voice to sound clearer and more crisp?

If you're self-conscious about something, you create a problem out of nothing and it becomes insidious. Forget about it. Learn to love your own voice or you'll never be happy. I think the only therapy you can benefit from is going out into the street and signing out loud to the world.

Im not a fan of my voice too. I have always thought its too high pitch, and when i get into hystrics or laugh, it just gets even more squeeky. Bit of a girls voice. But hey ho, i do get told i come accross a little camp, so if the shoe fits.......
 
Also never realised how much of an east end cockney accent i had, until i accidentally heard my work voicemail greeting. Painful to hear.

I hate the sound of my voice on a recording, I think most people do.

I sound like a right posh twat, so yeh, I hate it. 

I never really noticed my voice till I move to the uk from south africa. Suddenly every one I met was commenting on my accent and I became very self conscious!

Now I feel like I don't really belong anywhere cause when I go back home everyone says you sound like an English boy but here every one says i speak with a twang!

It's started to affectme badly. If I go on a course at work and everyone is taking turns introducing themselves, my heart races and get all flustered and cannot say 4 wrods in a row with out my mind going completely blank and their being a noticeable pause.

However when Its people I know, I'm the most confident guy around.. Weird.

I am working on it.. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone

My voice is too deep combined with a N.Irish accent, although when I go to englandd the chicks dig it!  Ha!  I love southern english accents on girls too so it all good

The only problem with a NI accent is it should never be allowed on TV of Radio.

Tbh I thought your accent was lekker ja!

When I hear my own voice I try to convince myself it's deep, authorative and with no trace of an accent, makes women wobble...but everyone around me says I sound like David Beckham with a stinking cold. I do dislike my voice.

I don't know why but I never even notice accents or different dialects, a bit like someones skin colour it just doesn't even register and neither should it I guess.
 
Go with your voice, its who you are and some have made very good livings from them, what ever their regional dialect or country of origin.  Long gone are the days where the Queens English is the only accepted presenters voice - thank god.

Yes,  I hate my accent/voice. 

I filmed our holiday and I hated my voice and thought to myself, I don't sound like that! Funny though my partner sounded on film as she does in real life

Nope like mine worked hard to "speak correctly" and lose my northern accent to replace it with a fairly neutral/southern one. 

Used to hate my northern accent for speaking especially when talking about simple things as I just think even though it couldnt be further from the truth northern people just sound stupid. People like Paddy McGuinnes, Vernon Kaye etc all just sound like utter cretins to me.

Oddly enough I dont find Scots, Welsh or even Irish to be as remotely "Stupid" sounding in fact I think people respond well to those accents.

To the OP you can have voice coaching if it bothers you that much.  

Yep, hate my own voice, terrible N.Irish accent, plus I speak to fast, as mentioned when I hear someone on the radio or tv, ie Colin Murray or Jim McDonald I want to hurt myself, cringworthy doesn't describe it !

Nope, my voice is like a Barry White tribute act...baby...

Actually I suppose it depends what part of the region your from, I Have been to London quite a few times and people thought I was American or Canadian.
