Oh you would like it! 18 February 2012 10:18 (permalink)
Do you find others inflicting their 'taste' on you a little frustrating. For example I absolutely hate the thought of a cruise, being on board a restricted spaced vessel with hundreds of other people to bump into, dine with every meal time and just basically not having your own proper space! The amount of times I've been told that you can get away from others on board but it's the fact that you know they're there!! I like walking when on holiday, preferably up small mountains, sit at the top and eat a picnic whilst wrapped up from the elements......do you think they'd like that

"Go to Disneyland, you'd love it".....No I wouldn't I hate theme parks
"Go to Maldive, you'd love it"......No I wouldn't I'd be bored stiff

Ok, whinge over

I sense a personal block there for some reason Kitty - at least try to experience these things the once before you then write it off.

I agree, my dad had the same reservations about cruises but thought fcuk it I'll go on one. He  loved it, you can see more places you're not always on the boat and your lucky if you see the same person twice let alone eat with them every night. The boats are like small towns

I prefer boats to planes. At least if the electrics go on a boat you still float.

What is there to do for adults at Disney World? Are they well catered for?
Take my word for it. I'm smiling.

Yea theirs a HELL of a lot, theirs not as many big rides as you might think, and plenty of more straight forward entertainment, shops etc and shows for them to make days out of it.

Lol, I know there's that risk, but at least you still have half a chance with life rafts etc. Remember that French plane where the electrics cut out and the plane simply plummeted. Friggin hate planes.

I have done a cruise, a short and small one albeit and that was enough for me to know I wouldn't like a bigger one. I do like the idea of seeing lots of places in a short time but are they places I'd want to go individually if I had the option? Thing is I like my independence on holiday, go where I want to go when I want to go. The whole idea of the boat being a small town does not appeal in the slightest , what if I don't like that town?

I see Vegas as being my type of Disney. Less kids for a start . I hate rides, always have done. I'm the handbag monitor if ever we're anywhere like that (childhood phobia I think).

Maybe you'd like a cruise when you are older. My parents are very well travelled and I think they just prefered the convenience of it now they are older. I guess they wouldnt really go on cruises if they hadnt travelled so well when they were younger. I want to go on one, but I'm a little scared I might not like it and ultimately spunked loads of money on something I didnt enjoy. I had presumed from your first post that you hadnt even been on one at all, but as you have, and you know you dont enjoy them, its a bit bizarre your friends trying to tell you you'd love them!

I once went on a cruise, it was great - I'd been signed off work for a month with some sort of superflu, and had zero energy. Sitting around doing nothing much, reading, watching the world go by whilst being rocked by the waves. Was fantastic.

I have had people suggest such a thing since, but really not my thing if I'm fit and well. Another one I hate is the suggestion I'd benefit from a spa break. Ok, one day but any longer and I'd go nuts.

Do u mean hills. Mountains are generally big, very big, giving rise to terms like 'mountainous'.  Small mountains is a bit like saying huge midgets.

That's what I wouldn't like GN! I have had the holidays when I was younger where we partied all night and sunbathed all day doing nothing. That would drive me spare now! Hence why I prefer the open space to do as I wish now. I do kick myself that we weren't more active when we were younger when hubbies knees weren't as knackered from years of rugby!! We have done spa breaks and enjoyed them but we don't exactly relax on those, if we're not in treatment we're either in the gym, eating, or out walking.

Red Bull, I'm not THAT young now you know . I suppose the tiny cruise we were on is not really that comparable to the huge boats these days so people say it would be different. I just liken them to floating Butlins . I would hate the pompous arses on expensive cruises and knowing our luck I'd be stuck with proper chavs on a cheaper one (where they would consider me to be the pompous arse ).

Went on a couple of mini cruises when I was a kid-thought they were a bit boring.  Wouldn't mind giving one a go nowadays-(not with the kids though).  The do some really good cruises up this end of the world.
I'll cross that bridge after i've burned it.

I quite like the sound of going on a private yacht rather than a cruise

i know what you mean Kitty. I hate people forcing their opinion on to me. I seem to get it the other way, everything I do I'm told how dangerous it is.

me "i'm doing a skydive" friend "bl00dy dangerous that is remember that guy who's chute didn't open"

me "i've started working as ground crew for hot air balloons" my dad "that's dangerous that is, remember that girl in germany who got caught up in the line & whisked away?"

me "i've applied for my shotgun license" my sister "they're dangerous they are, don't tell anyone you have one they might come round to take it off you!"     wtf?

same scenario for when i started flying in my mate's light aircraft, mountain biking, buy to let properties. etc

my response tends to be "too right it's dangerous or risky, but so is crossing the road, they only report the mishaps because they happen so rarely, if they reported every parachute that landed safely there'd be no room on the news for anything else"

                                        that's my rant over!!!

so yeh it is annoying when people force their opinion on you. kind of makes me dig my heels in
