Help on diet for cutting. 20 February 2012 10:12 (permalink)
Hello everyone, first time i have posted in the diet section. I need help on my diet, as i have been told its rubbish.
I have just been on a bulking phase of training and put around 1 stone on, but my body fat has also increased, its now 19%.
I am looking to drop that drematticaly if possible, and want to cut up before my summer holidays in may, i know it is quite soon but going to give it a go.
The problem I have is do not like any vegatables. I eat any meat, pastas, rice, potatoe. I am quite a fussy eater to b honest. I do eat some fruit, apples, bannanas, melon, pinapple occasionaly.
I have switched from 6 days a week weight training to now doing day of weights, day of cardio for 60 mins.
If anyone has any advice for me please post, i know becouse im a fussy eater it wont b easy.
Cheers for any help
Jay

Post up a typical day from what you have been doing - from this we can advise a change to help you drop the fat.

Agree with post above but fat loss is simple:

Eat less carbs, fat and sugar (natural sugars are ok in proportion), and eat more protein to make you fill full. You will need to burn more calories than consuming, so make a log of what you eat and find a calorie counter then minus around 1600 calories and then with the remaining number burn that off at the gym in a cardio workout.

      Hope this helps

When you say a typical day do you mean workout?
If so I do chest one day then back and bicep the next, then shoulders an tri then legs. Then once a week do cardio for an hour. But now I noticed my body fat has raised I am doing day of weights then day of cardio around 50 mins, then day of weights then cardio next day and so on.
I think my diet is the problem but the foods i usually eat have carbs in. I could do with a list of no carb foods and only eat these afterlunch time. Im scanning the net tonight to c if i can find any sites with these on. I am ok on the protien side, i eat any meats and also have 2 or 3 protien shakes a day each containing 50g protien.
        Cheers mate.

          Hi Jay,

I think as you add different fruits and veges in your taste buds will adjust in time, they can be conditioned, just like our muscles. Perhaps try adding flavours to make them more palatable - fresh herbs, avocado or a healthy dressing such as balsamic vinegar and olive oil, raw nuts, chili etc.
Veges are so important and can be a huge key to success in dropping fat while staying healthy. It might not be easy but it will be worth it.

I just put up an article which has a list of fruits and veges all with very low carbs - less than 5%. They'll give you lots of healthy nutrients plus help keep you satisfied which will help with cravings and sticking to the calories.

Thanks for the advice, i have had a look at your article you posted but again on that there is probably 2 foods on there I would eat. I am an extremly fussy eater. A friend of mine told me to drop the carbs, but as I dont like much food, it is hard, so I was woundering if I was to do a day with no carbs, while weight training, then a day with carbs on the day I do cardio work? Would this b ok or do you have any advice?
            Cheers
            Jay

If you're wanting to cut body fat, I'd keep your carbs low rather having none, and then boost them up slightly on days you need the energy using other good sources of veges you do like - perhaps higher carb fruits and veges but in smaller amounts? E.g. sweet potato, the fruits you mentioned etc.

Also I've found with some of my clients they are better having carbs the night before a big training session so they're ready to be used as energy in the workout.
I would stick to the ones you like and see if you can try experimenting with a few you can tolerate, see if you can adjust you might be surprised?

Look into taking a multi vitamin and a multi mineral also, or a green powder you can just neck back in the morning, as you'll be missing out on a host of nutrients without veges.

Or you could blend them up into a smoothie?
              Some ideas here
