Not only would it be ok, it's the only logical way! Rear delts get hit by pretty much all back movements already (rows, chins, deads, etc) so for all intents and purposes, and specifically for the purposes of hitting each body part once a week as part of a split, the rear delts are part of your back.

I have always been one for individual body parts in individual days but as Kane says it's the best way you can train them if you are not hitting them individually. There is the argument you won't be able to work the rear as hard as they will already pre exhausted from training back but I see that as an advantage. Allowing you to use better form instead of heavier weights

I would say bent over dumbbell flys are better than using a machine

They can be trained with shoulders, or with back. Dbs good for natural motion, rear delt mach ok. Used a strange looking cable set up in a 'technogym' gym few weeks ago, two vertical ropes linked to a weight stack, slide the handles down to the level right for you, then cross over and pull back with straight arms. Found this targeted that area really well.

bent rows with overhand grip hits rear delts so supplement these with a couple sets of bent over db flyes on back days.

kpower20 something like this ok. Barbell Rows x 3 sets Pullups x 3 sets Seated Cable Rows x 3 sets Deadlifts x 1 set Machine Rear Delt Fly x 2 sets Bent Over Cable Lateral Raise (one arm) x 2 sets Rear Delt is relative small and gets hit hard with Wide Pullups and any Rowing. You don't really need an isolation movement for it (more Deads. perhaps) but fine to add 1 movement to finish off. imo: Deadlifts x 3 set Pullups x 3 sets Barbell Rows x 3 sets Bent Over DB Raises - Flys

I think to get good rear delts you need to do one or two isolation moves on a back day. Behind neck press is probably best IMO.

Behind neck press is probably best IMO. behind the neck press is a horrendous exercise that most people would be best avoiding. its also not a rear delt exercise. if you feel it working your rear delt its because that muscle is acting as a synergist to keep the shoulder that extended, and if you feel it working hard then its a pretty good reason why you shouldnt be doing BTNP

I'd have thought just one exercise would have been good enough.

i think i might add rear delts near the beginning of my workout. Chins only because its a bodyweight exercise. Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns Rear Dumbell Flys Bent Over Rows to the chest (one of my favourite back exercises) Seated Cable Rows

kpower20 i think i might add rear delts near the beginning of my workout. Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns You're better off doing the bigger back movements 1st. Finish off with ancillary work. Stick to pullups, far superior over Lat Pulldowns. Vary the width, add weight when you can do 12 wide.

the only reason i added pulldowns because i can only do 3-4 pullups so just adding couple of sets of pulldowns would help me or maybe superset them together.

cool. maybe go narrower on the grip and work your way out, you'll be surprised how quick you'll be able to 8-10 wide. give the assisted pullup machine a try too.

Start with chins when you fresh just do sets to fail 3- 4 even if you only get 2- 3 reps it's a start , you will get stronger and the reps will soon go up . As for rear delts training them after back is fine as said they already will be pre- exhausted from rows . On behind the neck press I personally think this is a terrible exercise I think it puts so much stress in a unnatural position and if you have weak rotator cuffs you will be setting yourself up for injurys , stick to ohp to the front
It's never to late to start but always too soon to quit

I know that Levrone and Nasir Sonbaty loved the BNOHP and had huge traps triceps and shoulders, but also lacked alot of back width in comparison to some other guys of that era. Having tryed most forms of presses i do favour the seated dumbell or machine shoulder press to the front, seated dumbells hit my laterals slightly more, whereas the smith machine press allows good ROM and a safer working of the front delt (have a dodgy right RC from ego bench pressing years ago) In terms of rear delt work; which is now a strong point of mine. As with most, doing it on back day works best as its a pulling movement, and as allready stated, with Bent Over Barbell rows or T-Bar row,s the rear delts feel ankered by the time i get to bent over flys, and go to failure sooner at a lighter weight BUT the next day i can see them alot fuller then when i used to train rear delts with shoulders. I moved Traps to shoulder day instead of back, and again, it seems to work better for me on that day. Everyones diffrent, and its good to mix it up now and then and see what works best for you, and your body!

I alternate weeks of either Dumbell Bent Over flys or Reverse Pec Deck flys. Cables are also another option, but dumbells are the best option for size
