I'm looking for advice on punchbag training, which I'm now doing as a source of cardio to primarily help me burn fat, but also help with fitness levels, too.

Any tips /  pointers on how many sets I should be doing per session, how long those sets should last, and how many times a week I should be training with the punchbag?

I do mine almost every non weightlifting day (3-4 times a week) for 10-20 min accompanied with some runs, bw exercises, skipping etc. No idea how others do it.

Start off doing a few minutes say 5-7 and then work from there.

In that time you might want to start with 1 min on 1 off, or 2 on and 1 off then work up to 3 on 1 off and then work up the number of rounds.

If you arms & shoulders are tiring before your lungs then work in some shadow boxing as well, use lots of movement (front, back, side to side, ducking & weave/avoidance) in this to get the work rate up.

I like to work up to 8 to 10 three minute rounds, with 1 minute intervals.

Just remember to work up to these and don't go hell for leather on the bag start off hitting it at half or even quarter power till you get use to it.Going full force from the start can cause a host problems so take it easy.
 
Wait till you try the punchout drills they sound easy punching full out for 30secs but by the time you reach the fifth set you'll be lucky if you can even throw another punch LMAO

Dbam comes, spouts some ****, DBAM goes.
