Hi i am relatively new to building but have been training for about 3 weeks with just dumbells. i am happy with the results but i have come to the conclusion i need a better diet to maximise the results.

I would buy protein shakes but i cant afford to and wondered what meals or foods would be good to eat before and after working out and how long before and after to eat them.

Any sort of high protein food would be good.

Personally though if money is tight then just buy a bulk bag of whey powder from one of the board sponsors. Have one straight after you train. Then use food throughout the day to meet your protein requirements.

If you have one shake a day a 2.5 kg bag would last ages.

In my opinion eggs, cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, chicken, fish, beef would work.
