Never ever too old and certainly not at 40! Aside from plenty of high protein/Complex carbs/Vegetable/fruits wholesome foods; Good start for supplements is a high quality whey protein and some creatine along with a high strength multi vitamin mineral. Too old at forty? leave it out! You wont be Mr Olympia, but you can over the next couple of years build an impressive and strong body.

fourty is no age at all. as for suplements, i wouldn`t concern myself too much at this stage if i were you. concentrate on eating high quality foods, and getting plenty of rest between training sessions. suplements can be added later, if you feel the need for them. remember that suplements are just that, and will not replace proper food. good luck!

drewdette Hi, New to ths forum but wanted to start but am to old at 40 and want prouduct supplements should i take thankyou for all your help I started bodybuilding at 43. I have added over 3 inches to my biceps and despite many gaps in training I am still at 61 able to rebuild my old muscle although it's definitely more difficult now. When I first started training my wife stared to say my shoulders were looking more "square" and my biceps were getting bigger after about 2 weeks. Join a gym - don't train at home. Let them know you're interested in bodybuilding. You need to train, eat and sleep. If you don't gain eat more. The most important decision is the decision to start - do it now!

Go for it mate, when I used to instruct I trained many guys from 40 upwards all loved it and made fanstastic progress. A good routine and diet should see you gain almost like a teenager for the first year or so lol.

Welcome to the forum mate, whey is good and multi vitamins/fish oil tabs/calcium tabs as a top up at our ages(not that were old of corse) but they do seem to help, plus good cleanish food in abundance, nothing else realy required for some results, well sleep too of corse.

BB, or resistance training to give it its old name, has tremendous health benefits as you age. It will both help you maintain muscle as you age it will keep bones thick and strong. Plus, even at 40 you can accomplish massive changes.
