I have adapted my training quite a bit in recent weeks, it now involves doing heavy upper body and Speed work on my lower body on a Monday, upper body assistance and conditioning on a Tuesday, cardio Wed and Thursday is heavy lower body speed upper body and lower body assistance with event training still on weekends
So today I did Heavy log press
Warm ups, 80kg x 10, 100 x 8, 120 x 6, 140 x 4 Work sets were all done at 165kg reps I did were, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1. The last two sets I was struggling with my balance for some reason but pressing power felt very good
speed work on lower body was deadlifts with bands adding 80kg at the top of the lift.
Sets were 60kg + bands for a set of 5, 100kg + bands for 5, 140kg + bands for 5, 180kg + bands for 3, 220 + bands for 2 then work sets were done at 250 + bands which I did 10 sets of 2 with no more than 60 secs rest between sets. These were absolutely brutal as obviously at the bottom of the lift 250 is a very easy lift for me but where the weight changes so dramatically they got quite tough after about 7 sets. These are performed as explosively as possible.
Then last thing I did was we have a giant DB at the gym which weighs 55kg and I set myself a challenge a month ago that in 2 months I would do 50 reps 1 arm pressing it cleaning every rep. I have 1 month left so thought I would test myself a little! did 35 reps with it and can honestly say I was so close to puking I was tasting it in my mouth! I feel good for the 50 power-wise but will be surprised if I don't pass out or puke during it. Anyway 1 month to go on that and will post a video when I attempt it!
All in all a good session and feeling totally shattered after it!
