You could ignore all the science and complication and do things nice and simple for a while - that's my advice. When you first start out (or get back on the horse after a seriously prolonged time) everything and anything will work wonders. When things finally start to slow down... yeah find out where to go next. - Do plenty of weights training, with big compound movements (as opposed to lots of isolated lifts targeting small muscles)
- Do some walking/running/swimming whatever.
- Eat less process foods and sugar-laden treats - stick to your nice wholesome foods.
