whats more important for muscle building

is it cals,protien,carbs,fats or hormones like test etc or is it a mix of both thanks

For building muscle, both. Look at the average woman, they have around 10 times less the natural testosterone as men and it shows in their natural ability to synthesise lean mass compared to males. Same can be said, without sufficient fat and protein with a caloric surplus you wont gain noticeable muscle either unless you're very new to training in which case the new stimulus from training alone is enough to stimulate some gains. So yes, it's a combination of factors which lead to muscle gain. For the average person just focus on eating, efficiently progressively overloading the muscle with tension and rest.

Protein You can build and maintain muscle without carbs to a point. without protein your screwed. However both are needed for optimal muscle building
