Hi My wife works out once a week and is looking for a recovery shake. Are there any side effects if women take the following 3 products not necessarily mixed together but just generally. 1 Maltodextrin 2 Whey isolate or concentrate 3 Creatin , creapur

All three are fine. 1 and 2 are merely extensions of food. For info on creatine see Creatine FAQs

Would there be any benefits to a post workout shake for a once a week session?

I would think so Tan... Creatine may cause the user to hold water, but depends on type used and water consumed generally etc etc. Generally nope, no probs

I agree there would be no problem with it I'm just unsure what the benefits would actually be?

It's an advantage, given a one day a week scenario then you need all the advantages you can get but I see your point, plenty of time to recover. I personally wouldn't bother with the carbs unless underweight or near underweight, you have so long to restore muscle glycogen assuming there's not much other activity. Why the creatine also?

Drew we seem to be saying the same thing. Minus the carbs & creatine then it really isn't a post workout recovery meal in the traditional sense but just a protein drink. As the original post doesn't state whether any other activity is undertaken then it's hard to say whether it will be beneficial or not. I do however very much doubt that the weight day as a single activity would be at an intensity that would warrant the suggested shake as you say there is plenty of time to recover and replenish.

It is still a recovery drink without the CHO and creat. The session could quite easily be at an intensity that would take a while to recover from. The thing is with one opportunity you have to make the most of it. Sure it's not necessary at all though, but they aren't anyway.
