Does anyone know why MPC or casein etc is so expensive when compared to whey?

    Here's my theory:

Whey is an unwanted by-product of cheese making, hence there is always a lot of unwanted whey which, i imagine, whey companies can buy quite cheaply from cheese companies.

Milk protein is expensive because a pint of milk only contains about 20g of protein, therefore it takes 50 pints of milk to make a kilo of milk protein.

    It is expensive to produce.

As i recall, albumen is the pricest to synthesize.

Bacause there isn't that much of a demand for it.

Arr, but the demand is price inelastic lol (messing with ya)
I would put it mainly down to production costs

And "economics is the social science which studies humans behaviour as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses".

God, my economics degree just came flooding back to me.

When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city to see a marching band. He said, "Son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken, the beaten and the damned?".
