10 Weeks in/ stumped

I started my diet 10 weeks ago, my aim was to get down to 10% body fat from what i thought was around 16-17%

Am 6’1, i started at 97kgs & now am at around 89-90kgs (depending on day weigh in) it hasn’t moved in past 2 weeks.

My diet has basically been low carb high protein & carbs sprinkled in post workout. i started around 2500 cals & worked down to 1800

what i have learnt is that i probably wasn’t 16-17% body fat, i think now i’m probably around 15% so i guess i must of started in early to mid 20’s

I feel pissed off, that i’m still sporting some lil love handles & my tummy is still soft. After being perfect for 10weeks, i had a blowout when i realised i’m nowhere near where i want to be.

Any advice on what i should do now? i feel a bit psychologically fried from what i have done & have slowly crept up on caffiene intake to quite a high level around 600-700mgs a day.

am thinking maybe a break? but don’t want to set myself back at all

thankyou in advance

I’d take a break for a few weeks. Try to stay at the weight you are now but you will probably find you get a few kgs back even if you are dead on maintenance cals due to water and glycogen.

The few weeks will allow your hormones to normalise a bit then you can resume cutting 1-200 cals daily each adjustment until you are steadily losing again.

Caffeine doesn’t affect weight loss I believe but I do think that is a little high. I’d try to cut down a bit too. Drink tea instead of coffee or even decaf. Or have a lemonade instead of a red bull.

    Hope that helps.

Actually ate at what i estimate to be maintenance yesterday, weight this morning was up 2kg’s

Today my plan is to do the same, but yesterday’s eating hasn’t had an impact i still feel starving :(

I will try to lower the caffeine, it’s one of those things that wasn’t used for fat loss. but to give me a boost when feeling low & to deal with hunger.

    Really appreciate your reply

To get below 10% takes time. Trying to rush it ends in disaster. Overall, your cals seem pretty low.

Don't worry about the blow out.  In fact, get it out of your system.  Your diet and your mental health will be the better for it.  Your 2kg of weight gain is just the food in your gut and water.  It's impossible to gain that much fat in that amount of time, no matter how many calories you consume.

    Thankyou for the reply

For past week have been eating around 2300-2500 & weight has been maintaining. Annoyingly going from 1800 to 2300-2500 hasn’t really changed anything. i still feel like i’m dieting.

i guess i went too hard & expected more results & perhaps have burned out

I’d always up my cardio before I dropped my calories too low
