1st cycle Journal


This is the journal of my 1st cycle. Suggestions are always welcomed.

The objective of this cycle is to gain mass.

So far not many side effects. A bit more tired and impatient. Yet I might attribute some of that to quitting ECA two weeks before the cycle. I had pretty bad withdraws for over a week.

I also learned not to use the same needle for drawing and injecting. My leg was sooo soared.

Starting weight 159
Bf ~15%

current cycle:
week
1-4 30 mg DBol (5mg with each meal)
1-8 400 ml sust
1-8 ~373 ml Deca

So far I managed to eat fairly well and not drink any alcohol. I am eating about 300g of protein. I also haven’t missed a single workout. Currently doing a five-day split (chest, back, arms, shoulders, legs) with an occasional 2nd session on late afternoons to address problem areas such as calves and biceps (both sadly around 14 inches)

Changes after 1st week:
6 lbs gain. Probably most of it water retention
Strength is nicely up about 10%

I am really looking forward to the end of week 2 to see where strength gains take me.

    Week 2 Update
    Things are still going okay. I still haven’t missed a work out. I am still sticking to a 5 day split. I cut back on the occasional split session in the afternoons due that I started to notice some soreness on my tendons.

    Current weight is ~171 lbs. That is about 11 lbs gain. Probably mostly water retention. Which is starting to be somewhat noticeable on my face. Not very happy about that but it looks like the water gain has slowed down quite a bit.

    Arms and calves are up .5 inch. I am pretty happy about that. Arm strength it up about 16% compared to day one. I was surprised that chest strength has almost not improved. Since the initial 10% improvement of week one, chest strength is only up a couple reps.

    Side effects: getting headaches more often. I am certainly more moody that usual. Lower back hurts a little. I am not sure if this caused by the water retention.

    I must say that I really suck at injections. I am starting to reconsider having chosen my legs for spot injections. I must have really screwed up last Wednesday because my left leg still soared. Pain is going down but not very enjoyable walking with limp for several days. Don’t even get me started about taking stairs down.

    I am thinking about extending the Dbol through week 5 instead of week 4. Does anyone have any opinions about this?

    Day 17
    Weight continues to go up. I am starting to get concerned of how much water I can retain. I was 175 lbs this am. I am drawing the line at 180 lbs. Then I will start Nolva if I go over that. I have gained 16 lbs in 17 days. Fortunately I used to be fat. Thus, I don’t think all this water weight is very hard on my skin. I put on another .25 of an inch on my biceps. That makes it a total gain of .75 of an inch.

    Week 3 update:
    Finally got better at injections. I figure out that it was the extra movement while injecting was causing my legs to remain soared for several days.

    Weight seems to have settled. I am currently at 176. Which I have been on for the last couple days. Biceps and calves grew another .25 inches this week. Bringing total gains to 1 inch. I wonder how much of it is water retention. Some more mild strength gains. I put on another 10 lbs on my bench press. Bringing total strength gains of 30 lbs in 3 weeks.
    It looks like this is my last week of Dbol. I am still debating to go an extra week.

    Current side effects: Still moody, lower back hurts a little, probably from water retention. Some occasional headaches.

    Week 4 update:
    I am starting to struggle with water retention. My lower back has been constantly soared for the last few days. I am ending Dbol on 3 days. Thus, I hope that helps. If not I will start nolva then.
    I put on another 20 lbs on my bench. Bringing in a total of 50 lbs strength gain in 4 weeks. I am trilled about that since I now have regained all the strength lost while losing weight ( ~ 50 lbs loss) and gained 10 lbs on top of that. Weight is at 179. Which is 20 lbs total gain. I am really wondering how much of that is water.
    The strength on my biceps continues to go up. Yet. they did not grow this week. They have remained at 15 inches.
    I had to take my first day off since the beginning of the cycle. My tendons starting to get really soared. I noticed quite a bit of pain during bench press yesterday and shoulder press the day before. I will have reevaluate things tomorrow to see if I need another day off. Usually my 5-day split allows me to workout everyday for months at the time without having such issues. I guess being able to lift much heavier weights while on gear proof too much for my tendons.

    Week 5 update:
    It has been great week strength wise I put on another 20lbs on my bench press. Brining total gains to 70 lbs since day one!!! Arm strength is up as well. Yet almost no change in size I maybe put on 1/8 of an inch this week. Oh well.

    I have decided to cut back on my workouts since my tendons starting to get too soared. Particularly around the elbows and shoulders. I had been doing a 5-day split without days off. I am adding a day off. Thus, it will be 5 on 1 off.

    I am growing concerned about water retention. I was thinking that after finishing the Dbol some of the water retention would go away. On the contrary still there and the weight keeps going up!! I was 184 this am!! That is 25lbs!! Since day one. I have been off Dbol for 2 days now and I started 10mg of Nolva. I am thinking of changing that to 20 mg per day.

    Week 6 update:

    Things have settled a little. It looks like I am not growing much. Strength has mildly increased yet not by much. I am still experiencing soared tendons. Particularly with my shoulders and elbows. I am going to try to tough it out since I only have two weeks left. Despite increasing Nolva to 20 ml per day, water retention still there and it is somewhat noticeable. At least weight has not increased I have been around 182 lbs for several days now. I am so looking forward to getting rid of all the extra weight.

    Week 7 Update:
    Things continue to settle. My weight continues to be around 182 lbs. Despite water retention still high my lower back seems to have strengthen due that it doesn’t get sore as much. Thus despite looking a bit fatter the water retention is not a big deal. I put another 10 lbs on my bench press. This brings the total bench gains to 80 lbs!!!! I keep wondering of how much of this strength I will keep. My tendons still hurt. Yet the problem has not gotten worse. On the contrary it is a bit better. Now it is basically my shoulders. Which are quite painful during heavy bench press. The small strength gains for the week are matched with small muscle gains. I am certanly not growing much.

    Week 9 update:

    Things have been fairly uneventful. I did my last jab on Jan 6th.

    Currently strength has not decreased. It is about the same. I still around 182 lbs. I am so tired of the water retention. I stopped taking Nolva since it did nothing for water retention on my case. I have been taking a bit of ECA to help increase my motivation during workouts. I am also starting to cut back on the my carb intake and I am planning to start doing cardio in a few days.
    Other than that, I am looking forward to PCT and most all, losing this f@# water retention!!

    Week 10 Update:

    About 11 days since my last jab. Strength still there. Weight came down in the last couple days to 181. Thus, I think the f#*)@ water retention is finally starting to go away. I must look a lot bigger. Occassionally other men ask me how much I can bench. Kind of funny. That never used to happen.

    Week 10 + 4 days.

    Two weeks since my last jab. 1 week until PCT.

    I still 181. That is 22 lbs since the beginning of the cycle. Strength still there and so is water retention. So tired of it. Planning on starting cardio this week. I also reduced my intake of carbs to about 100 grams a day. I just want to start cutting a little.

    Week 11 update:

    I am down to 180 lbs. Probably due to the cardio I started. I got 3 cardio sessions this week so far. Strength still good and of course the water retention still there. I start PCT in 3 days which will be 3 weeks after my last jab. I accidentally cut my carbs too much and the ketostix strip came up positive. Thus, I have upped my carb intake. Pretty weird since I am pretty sure I was eating at least 100 g. carbs per day. I am going to up it to 150g per day.

    Thanks. Most of the water retention is on my lower back and my abs. My waist is about 2.5 inches bigger. I was fine with it during the cycle. Now I am so ready for it go away. I am starting to get concerned since it has been 3 weeks since my last jab and no significant water loss has occurred. I was 181 lbs this am.

    Week 12 + 4 days

    4 weeks after last jab. 1 week since starting PCT

    I am down to 178.4 lbs !!!! Strength is slightly down. Other than that I feeling very well. I have been doing 3-4 cardio sessions per week. Thus, I am thinking that some of the weight loss is due to that. My waist still about 1.5 inches bigger than before the cycle(currently 33.5 inches). Yet I have lost one inch on my waist this last week alone. Thus, that is very encouraging.
