1st time today to try HIIT

Wow!!
I have been into fitness off and on for about 12 years. Over the last 6 months have done absolutely nothing and got up to 16 1/2 stone. I usually weigh about 15ish. Have been doing the 'body for life' program for the last 7 weeks, and lost 14 lbs and am starting to put the weight back on, on my lifts.
I usually do 25 minutes of cardio 3 or 4 times a week, mainly on the stair stepper (found this most effective for the short time I have to do my cardio) Today I tried HIIT for the first time
Loved it!!!!!! I think I did it right, but let me know if not.

I started on the stair stepper:
2 min @ level 8
2 min @ level 10
2 min @ level 12
2 min @ level 14
This was sort of a warm up and I was trying HIIT for the first time so did not know how effective it would be.
1 min @ level 8
30 sec @ level 18
1 min @ level 8
30 sec @ level 18
1 min @ level 8
30 sec @ level 20

I then finished off with 5 minutes between level 8 and 10.

I was sweating my arse off!!!! Thanks for those on the site for pushing me in this direction, I am going to try this in my cardio sessions for the next couple of weeks to hopefully see some fat loss results.

now on lvl 18 were you going as hard as you can? and make your lower level periods up to 2 minutes.

and by doing this you will have some great fat losses. ive started this a few weeks ago and am getting so close to my 8% bf by spring.

Absolutely going as fast and hard as I could on level 18 and 20, on 20 I didnt think I would last the 30 secs[xx(]

So should I make the 50-60% 'rest' periods longer, I think I will try:
    2 min lvl 8
    2 min lvl 10
    2 min lvl 12
    2 min lvl 14
    2 min lvl 10
    30 sec lvl 18
    2 min lvl 10
    30 sec lvl 18
    2 min lvl 10
    30 sec lvl 20
    2 min lvl 10
    30 sec lvl 20
    8 minutes between level 8 - 14

Guys keep seein HIIT i'm assuming its high intensity interval training. if so i found
    Treadmill
    5mins warm up
    then
    1 min 10.5 mph
    2 min 6mph
repeat until 30 minutes cool down for 5 mins

worked a treat i lost 5% body fat in 4 weeks with clean diet.

3 times a week and a shorter burst straight after Resistance session. for say 10-15 mins

hey DG your right. thats how i used to do my HIIT but i think i puked after everyone one of those session. so now i go hard for 30 seconds and 50% for 2 minutes and i don't puke and still see some great results haha. I guess we do IIIT instead (Intense Intesity Interval Training)

i forgot to mention, that the 15-30 seconds hard and 2 minutes slow pace is just working your way up to 30 sec/30 sec. every 2 weeks i have been adding 15 seconds to my 100% and cutting off 15-30 seconds on my 50%
