20 rep squatters...

Just wondering for those who do 20 rep squats, whats a reasonable kind of lift for 20 reps? ive done 95kg for 20 today, followed by 16 reps (just do 2 sets). going for 100kg next week. but what would be considered a good weight for 20 reps? ive seen that video of IB doing 185kg iirc for 15, which makes me think circa 100kg is piss weak!

i should add ive never been particularly consistent in my leg training.

depends entirely on your size, build and natural strength

for a 10 year old girl 50kg for 20 will be great, for someone like ronnie coleman 50kg for 20 as a max would be pretty poor. its all relative. i was doin 15 reppers today for 75kg. not a lot of weight at all but perfectly ok for a smaller/weaker guy like myself

Current goals: get back in the game

i realise its relative mate, but there are certain milestones for bench, and deadlift say e.g 100/200kg respectively for alot of people. just wondering for those who have been 20 rep squatting for some time, what a decent sort of milestone is.

Double BW to depth will be great going. Adjust downwards if your larger an upwards if yout tiny!

Of course is this a set of breathing squats or just a set of 20?

when training legs intensely last year i only did 20's after heavy low reps of say 3-5 as a finisher so i use about 90kg.

though every other week i did 10 sets of 10 with 140-150kg, last few sets kick the arse out of you, helped put some decent mass on my legs in a short space of time.

Personally I'd say that 20 reps at body weight is decent.

    1.5x bodyweight is excellent

That's impressive but surely it's not THAT impressive, especially for a world strongest man competitor? I mean it's only 5 reps more than what Incredible Bulk can do with the same weight? Obviously IB is very very strong, but as far as 20 rep squats go there are far more impressive ones out there, such as:

What are the benefits of 20 reps? it cant be strength as one shouldnt be able to 20 rep their max weights.(so size isnt the aim here)

So im assuming its for general fitness yes?

It increases your pain tolerance, familiarises you with DOMS, and trains you to resist puking.....

no, it induces both strength and size.
    endurance, too.

I can't even squat double BW so 20x 2BW would impress the hell out of me lol. Actually thinking about it, that's pretty ridiculous. Anybody know any 90kg normal height guys who can squat 20x180kg? I only know a handful who can squat 180 for a single.

20xBW I'd say is good going

    1.5BW excellent

Think the most I've managed was 120 for around 15, after that I've tended to use strength-endurance.

Great for adding leg mass, not so great when you squat into compensatory movements like yours truly!
