Another 2006 crusty. I'm still pretty much perma logged in whilst at work, and still think it's the best forum in the field.

A relative newbie here from 2007 but you 1MR and many other names in this thread, along with others sadly apparently permanently departed, were already fixtures when I joined. Was different here then and imo better.

I was also around for the early days of FP. Fun times.

Anyone know what Steve (ToxicToffee/marmite) is up to these days? His articles have gone from the site, but they were really useful back in the day. Bulking, cutting, etc, even one on what to look for when buying a second hand spin bike (which I did in 2007 and it's still going strong).

TT was a very knowledgeable guy but I think it went a bit to his head from what I can remember. Clueless as to what he's doing nowadays.

Yeah TT knew his stuff, and as a noob I found his posts really useful, but he did rub some people up the wrong way.

Used to get some great threads back then in General. Completely random madness like when it was a hot summer and someone posted "can you get out of a fridge freezer from the inside, if I take the shelves out and go in there to cool down?" Best reply was something like "Yeah, should be fine but just in case you get frozen in, make sure to write the date on your forehead so whoever finds you knows if you're safe to eat."

Can't be 100% but iirc Steve requested that his work be removed from the site when things turned sour

What was FP i must of missed out

Cliff notes: MT General went through a bit of a "lad"/BB misc phase and while it was a LOT of fun if you were part of it, MT seemed to want to temper it as it appeared a bit cliquey/unprofessional to outsiders, so the moderation went really strict. FP was a spin-off forum I started where all the naughty lot could congregate and carry on the party. It was immense fun for a while, but ended up going a bit toxic (no TT) with lots of winding up MT members and people I'd never even heard of on other forums, causing friction and generally being a nuisance. I made the mistake of trying to turn it into a more topical forum which was kinda pointless considering the tiny userbase, then I wrote it off, signed the admin over to TV Lover, and despite his best efforts it eventually returned to obscurity.

Yeah, the moderation on MT back then could be a little too much at times. I remember getting a warning for suggesting Tin Tin (the cartoon character) was bent.

2004 was also a good year!

Came in just after the likes of jonny 5/mikey/Frankie ny left (I think) - remember reading all the threads though.

Took a 10 year hiatus from MT but now mostly reside in the journal section.

Even though it's quieter these days there is still so much great info stored here. I often search through threads going back over ten years ago as they are still just as relevant today and that knowledge sometimes just isn't around here anymore!
