2oo6 crew checking in

It's nearly 13 years since I joined this place, and it was very well established long before I arrived. I used to spend an obscene amount on time on here, all day every day, to the point it actually cost me a job in a round-about way! I've had some ups and downs on the boards and been involved in my fair share of scandal and controversy but it's good to look in and see the old vanguard still around!

Being on this board accelerated my progress so much back in the day and there is no way I'd have made the progress I have done without the guidance and advice on here.

I'm 34 now, and still lifting, though not with the same frequency and dedication mostly due to lack or work/life balance. I probably peaked in physique and strength in about 2012/2013, but I've set some new goals for 2019 and plan to make back some of the progress I've lost in the last 5 years. Something I read recently resonated with me and in 5, 10, 20 years time I don't want to look back on this time and think about how I wasted the opportunity to be in the best shape possible.

Anyway, no real point to this thread, I guess I'm just saying "hello" and reminiscing!

Feel free to reply with your stories or gossip from back in the day!

Blast from the past! Yeah MT was great a decade or more ago but a bit quiet nowadays unless you're into reading progress journals. A few oldies pop in every now and again but as it's nothing like it was in the heyday usually move on. Pity really as it was a really good community back then. All the best mate.

I just saw Mick the brick on another forum over the weekend, not seen him for a good few years and suddenly there he is.

Well, My old pal , the first time I saw you was on a video you posted ...running out of a house (i think) in your undies ...anyhoo , the house was a couple of 100 yards from my house, I recognised it and instantly knew we were to be best friends !

I remember those days.  I joined in 2007 and also spent hours on here.  I wouldn't say it cost me a job but I certainly under performed as a result of being addicted to this place.  I remember days where I'd log on to my laptop with a coffee on a morning with a list of stuff to do....... check MT then realise it was almost lunchtime!  I was my own boss for a while in my own office and at that time had little self discipline!

I stepped away from the weights 18 months ago and do a lot more running and then last year biking and swimming to do triathlons.  Only just keeping my hand in with weights with 2 short 20 minute sessions per week and even they often get missed.  The muscle has gone (I was never big anyway).  I was in decent shape, but these last few months I've let work stuff take over and I definitely need a new years reboot.  I've got London Marathon in April so that should sort me out!

I'm not one for New years resolutions but December has been a nightmare with work travel and social weekends away so it's definitely a fresh start and new routine in January.  The GF is away from new year for a week with her parents so it gives me a chance to establish a new routine, albeit one that might not be sustainable when she is back and life gets busy, but a good "first week back" is definitely needed.

I recently killed my journal on it's 10th birthday as I realised I was filling it in for the sake of it. Odd to think, but there's 10 years of my life documented in there!

Riot- you still chasing tilfs, going on mad holidays yourself and living the good single life ?
You still work in railways ? I always related to you in that I always was looking for my next career path while in training for the current one.
I was weirdly drawn back here for a random look tonight too. FPcrew.

Having latched onto David goggins hype I am back training harder than ever though spending a lot more time stretching out my makes wreck of a body.
