3D Baby

I am very very excited...I have just ordered a 40" 3D TV, 3D Home Cinema and Killzone for the PS3 which is of course...you guessed it 3D!!

I'll see you in a few weeks...I'll be white and malnourished!!

On a seriousness note, personally I am blown away by 3D, was somone who doesnt go out much these days watching films is my other hobby next to the gym, and the prices have tumbled over the past 12mths to the point where Im happy to jump in.

Anyone else gone 3D yet, or thinking of it?

My username has nothing to do with my religious beliefs.....

I'm going to wait until it's a bit more developed I think. It's no longer gimmicky as such but they've got a bit of a way to go until it's properly practical. I assume you have to wear glasses for that TV?

This sounds like I'm trying to piss on your bonfire, I'm just jealous

Have fun with it! Let us know what 3D Killzone is like!

I have looked at 3D once and was very impressed. I now avoid it as much as I can because I don't want to spend the money to buy one.

Yeah, someone was telling me about this yesterday.
Think I'll wait for that to be honest.

I have been BEGGING the missus.  But she reckons our TV is still brand new.  It's not, it's 18months old.

Is the effect on a tv similar to being at the cinema or better? I find 3D at the cinema quite annoying to be honest as it make my eyes go funny and it quite often just looks a bit sh1t. Only had my TV for under a year and I couldn't move down from a 50" now so no doubt I would have to sell my organs to pay for a 50" 3D TV!

I don't even have an LCD HD TV, why would I buy a 3D TV with little or no content available in 3D - Reborn mate, still more money than sense, enjoy though if you like it

[On a side note I have been building a 3d projector setup, which uses passive glasses and mimicks what you see at the cinema - harder than you think, a pet project.  No investment needed though, already had a matched pair of projectors.]

On a side note I have been very impressed with the picture on LED tv's that I've seen compared with plasma and LCD. Does an LED have many advantages over the other 2?

Although I tend to agree, people said things like that about the internet.

oLED will be the TVs to get over the next couple of years - they are far superior to anything out there but taking a long time to come to the home market.  Amazing picture.

I had an initial bit of wow factor from 3D tv, going instore, putting the glasses on (or standing at those things you put your head in) and it was a great new thing. But the novelty wore off really quickly.

Have spent a good few hours watching stuff like Avatar, animated 3D movies, some trailers, other nature and national geographic type showcase footage. I did this at home round my brothers flat, on a Samsung 50" 1080p £1300 model, with the lights off in a darkened room to get full effect. In the end after the initial "this is cool" period ended i was underwhelmed. It sealed the deal for me on me and the brother i live with bothering with a 3D tv.

We already had a 50" 1080p LG plasma, and recently upgraded to a 60" model. The 63" 3D model would have been £2200, compared to a touch under £1300 for the 60" normal. The 50" models are under a grand, but the 50" non 3D versions are £500-600.

These would all have the networking facilities to view youtube, connect to your computer, play stuff off USB, view pictures etc.

50" screens are still the price performance point, but the jump to go 60"+ 3D is a bit ludicrous, actually i should say the jump from 50 to 60 is - roughly double the price, for 20% more screen real estate.

Maybe in time i'll be persuaded, for now if do still get the projector on and the 90" screen down at times. It might only be 720p instead of 1080p, but honestly with the lights off, sound cranked up, and that massive 90" picture 10-12feet infront of you, size matters

Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak
