RE: 5x5 instead of max effort?
I think its best to change your max effort exercise each week, I have 4 that I rotate each week. I never work up to max singles unless I am testing 1RM. I'll quite often work up to max triples or a 5 rep max. 5x5 and 3x3 is good too, remember westside is much more flexible that most make out. Train how you like within the system of ME days and DE days.
