5x5,4x3, What's Next for Brute Strength

What type of rep and set routine would be a good follow up for strength after completing these 2 routines? Or should I change the way I do my reps and use pure power and speed when I bring up the weight? If so how many reps and sets for that? I want to bring up my strength in bench press and curls mostly, but of course I train all my body parts!! Anyways, I'm looking forward to your comments guys, there's a lot of guys out there who want to know the answer to this question, I'll gladly like to pass on your guys's knowledge!

well if you're kind of following this in a progressive sense then why not use a progressive singles routine for 4 weeks. build up to a triple, a double or a max

I thinks he's saying build up to a single for several weeks in a row.
Like 5,5,3,3,1 increasing weight each workout for several weeks in a row.
You might consider trying some oly lifts or strongman type stuff as
additional work ans maybe back off conventional stuff. Just an idea...

As an athlete (alleged and self-confessed) for strength building in off-season I follow
    5x5 for 5 weeks
    5,4,3,3 for 5 wks
    5x5 for 4 weeks
    5,4,3,3 for 4 weeks
    3,2,1,1 for 4 weeks
re-testing maxes after every block of 4 or 5 weeks

Maybe doing singles and increasing progressively the weight. The first reps would be warm ups and you increase the weight until you can't lift it anymore.
    In Exemple, for deadlift:
    1 X 200kg
    1 X 210kg
    1 X 220kg
    1 X 230kg
    1 X 240kg

irish runt - 3x3 after 4x3 is not really enough of a deviation.

van - yeah the boys done good build up to a 1rm, 2rm, or 3rm. You only max on the main compound in a set really, as it is so taxing on the cns. I wouldnt recomend maxing on the same ex 2x a week. You might be able to get away with different ex (ie deadlift + good morning) but make sure they are as far apart as possible. I think you would see overtraining symptoms very rapidly. maxing out is not really compatible with 'bodypart' training. If you want brute strength, avoid this notion.

I would not recommend maxxing more than a few weeks at a time, I think it could become counter-productive IMO....it did the one time I tried it anyway

That singles routine sounds pretty interesting. But I can't see you getting even a PUMP from doing 5 sets of 1 heavy rep. What do you guys think of 5x2 then 1 more set of 1 rep (MAX). ALSO, has anyone here had success with that singles routine?

training for strength does not involve a 'pump'. i wouldnt use 5x2 1x1. I'd go with cabermans 3,2,1,1

Thanks a lot guys, I'll try caberman's rep and set range once i'm done with 3x3. It's going to be wierd training and not getting a pump though. haha, i'll post my results once I start this training. Also, I'll probably try my routine after caberman's. thanks again
