A dunking disgrace!

Is it just me or are biscuits these days just not up to the job of being dunked? Compared to when I was a lad, biscuits these days seem to go floppy and fall into your drink with a fraction of the exposure time to a hot beverage than in the past, leaving you facing a gloopy mush at the bottom of your cup as you finish your drink.

Why is this? Or am I imagining it?

I love the taste of a dunked Digestive or Rich Tea. I just find them so hard to judge these days.

Sounds like a simple case of over dunking mate, a second too long at the biscuits had it.

I just had a digestive and I swear I held it in for no more than a second and it went floppy on me. Admittedly it was an Aldi one, not Mcvities.

Probably because they got rid of all the lovely saturated fats and trans fats that holds them together. Progress? Pah!

i blame it on the newer kettle technology, makes your brews hotter and the poor biscuits just can't handle it.

The Caramel holds these together even at high levels of temperature and saturation  -  virtually indestructable IMO

Because a tea-soaked biscuit tastes lovely and has a warm, mushy feel. You don't get that with anything else!

I hate the way as soon as you expose a rich tea to a bit of warm liquid, it snaps off and ends up in the bottom of your mug its a total pussy of a biscuit.

A bourbun is the alpha of biscuits though.

I only dunk a mcvities digestive with chocolate on - break it on half prior to dunking (give it a little shake to rid the crumbs) and enjoy in 2 segments.  This results in said biscuit retaining it's structure and significantly less breakage!

I don't dunk biscuits as I'm not a regular tea or coffee drinker (only drink green tea for health benefits). But in relation to that study above I remember once watching a progamme on this type of thing and there was a table produced for the optimum time for dunking of the main types of biscuit lol.
I do find though that either M&S or FOX's do some loverly bisuits as well as those German ones.
