A foolproof excuse

Need a good excuse to return a £300 camera to Jessops tomorrow morning,

Turns out I need the money desperately, it's in perfect condition and all the software etc is untouched

The receipt states a 30 day money back guarantee but they can be arsey

Any ideas?

If it looks in it's original, unused condition and the receipt states a 30 day full money back refund policy, then you should not have a problem.

If however it looks like you may have been using it they might be a bit arsey about taking it back.

But you could try saying something like you're not happy with the picture quality, which you only discovered after trying it out. Might work.

If it's a digi cam, just make up some old bollocks about it not connecting to your pc or causing your pc to go mental.

just remember when you spin a web of deceipt not to get caught out ,its a fact that if you tell one lie,you must have 7 back up, connecting lies to be confident of pulling it off.

the PC one seems a good un

Just tell them the pictures aren't good enough quality to warrant you spending £300 on a camera.

PC one is a good idea, just find out which version of windows the camera is not compatible with and say you are running that version!

I Have circulated an email to all Jessop branches in the UK they are now on amber alert which means do not refund any muscle bound males sporting a £300 camera ;)

    Plan B

Why not tell them you just wanted before and after pics for bodybuilding progress and you havent noticed any difference in the 2 pics. You are therefore returning their lousy camera

    LOL

Cheers for the replies, I hate dealing with shop staff and refunds frustrate the life out of me (not that I make a habit of it or anything!)

OTTO - I'd re-send the email without the word musclebound as I am far from it

PC excuse is a daft idea. Gives them the perfect excuse to try to shovel "Blame" onto your PC.

On a similar theme, though, say that your couldn't agree to the licencing agreement of the software, so you're returning it as per the bit about the software licence in the manual. (check, but most software agreements have a clause along the lines of "If you cannot agree with these terms and conditions, return the goods to the place-of-purchase"). If that's in there, it's an open invitation to return the camera as you cannot agree to the contract terms contained in the box.

You may have to argue. But you have right on your side. They must include such terms since they terms-of-use are not readable prior to purchase. If they did not then their restrictions on use would be held to be onerous terms in British law.

Please don't take what I say too literally. I'm a clown, when it's all said and done. Sometimes I say things with my tongue in my cheek to make people laugh, but please rest assured I am not laughing at *you*!

i took my cannon cybershot camera back to the shops, when they asked why i was returning it i told them it was **** and that i will wait for the next model (model name) to come out before i buy another camera.
the til girl laughed and credited my card back.

im going to get the samsung v3 or what ever its called instead.

Software doesn't have to be touched.
The digicam is probably plug and play, and as such, automatically shows up with a drive letter if you open My Computer.

The software is probably some cack image editor rubbish.

The PC excuse will work as I know others who have tried it.
...although I can't offer a money back guarantee.

Just say you have a Vista operating system and it won't assign a drive letter.

Please...no flaming from the Vista fanboys.

Got fobbed off, the software was sealed but apparently because it was opened etc then their returns policy states it's only for damaged or unused gifts

In honesty it was a bit of a rash decision to want to take it back as I love it and don't want rid of it at all, next month will just be a little bit tight

    Thanks again
