Digging out is the thing I always hate ,like you said everything bloody hurts after digging and shifting stuff in a wheel barrow.Great full body workout though.

Yesterday I decided to drag the cement mixer up to the top site took the short cut up the hillside yeah that turned into a right battle and my back is aching like hell today lol

I am literally in bits today. Back, legs, abs and forearms I feel like I’ve run a marathon with a small cow on my back!

I dug for 4 hours on Thursday, then did a of class in evening, 9 hours on Fridays, 5 on Saturday before a 3 hour of weapons away day and 7 yesterday... 25 hours of digging and I’m only about a quarter way through.

I’m also having to sift the soil before moving it, ready to use to raise the level of the garden and put turf down. So far it’s about 45 barrow loads. An 80l barrow I’m assuming can hold 80kgs.. so that’s 3.5 tons of earth moved.

I wish I had a digger!

4.4kgs down this morning from last Monday!! Although I think I’m going to put them back up in the loft as I found myself thinking/lightly obsessing about them all week for some reason.

Anyway, I went to work today for a rest and it exacerbated my achyness and I was so stiff when I get home. I almost didn’t go gym but decided I needed a light session to keep things moving. Tbh I think this is how training will be for a few weeks. Did a full body minus hams and lower back.. Christ digging better make me a more resilient deadlifter..

I feel your pain when my digger couldn't do the 300 + metres of trenching out I properly cried.

When I was younger I decided to start landscape gardening business I mean how hard could it be?.....yeah fcukin hard was the answer, had it for years and did really well out of it but Jesus I worked for my money lol

Imagine if you did a 12 week blast with no training just digging and dumping soil for the whole course you'd either be like the hulk or dead !!

My diggers starter solenoid has packed up but I have put plan b into action the ring a mate who's digger isn't broken to come and do the graft for you plan.

Always have a plan b 😉

4kg down. Much of that I imagine will be water. Weight will fall off you if not too careful.

I found t really hard to maintain when I did garden renos.

Oh yeh I cut the grass too..

But my lawn mower was broken..

so I dug deep underground, much further then any mortal man could, until i reached the rich ore deposits of the god metal URU.

Once extracted I took the metal to the home world of the Dwarves and one of the nine realms, the neutron star Nidavellir. Nidavellir is real you ask ? Yes. It is a place of legend. They make the most powerful, horrific weapons to ever torment the universe.

There, the Dwarf King Eitri summoned the power of the dying star to forge me a king's weapon. Meant to be the greatest in Asgard. In theory, it could even summon the Bifrost.

This axe called Storm Breaker, allowed me to cut the grass with minimal effort, using lightning as I ran!

Meh. Still can’t move right. Kung Fu was hard.. Going to reduce volume I think until the digging is over, maybe even just machines and a little pump. This is the last session of the week. On a Tuesday. These are more recovery sessions and keeping a semblance of muscle..there isn’t really a point in keeping the journal right now. As the days draw longer, I’ll have less and less time as evenings will now be taken over . Probably only go to the gym if it rains. But weight is literally falling off me. When I come back to training proper, I’ll have to relearn everything as it took me a while to get used to these leverages.

Hay ho. Off to bed I go. I’m Shattered.

You can certainly tick over and at least maintain what you have on significantly less volume if need be. And when cutting and doing so much to hinder recovery and increase injury risk that's no bad thing

LMAO that's a lot of graft for a tidy lawn

Its time to take a step back mate your running kung fu,weight training and heavy manual labour and that's a hell of a work load.

1) build a epic gym
2) keep kung fu skills up so your daughter doesn't kick your @ss and demand more pocket money (actually this should be 1)
3) lift a bit weight but not as important as 1 & 2

The actual building hasn’t even begun! This project has evolved into a monster.

The main issue is the shear amount of soil. I wanted to do this properly so I needed to create an extra 30cm to Overhead Press inside. I’m thought about just pressing outside but it annoy me forever!

I’ve dug out about 2/3rds of the buildings footprint. But I couldn’t dig anymore until I did something with the soil.. my plan was to use it to raise the rest of the garden. So it’s all been about landscaping first. I’m laying a concrete block path from house down to the gym. I’ve sifted about 3 tons of soil to remove all big stones and layered it across the top half the garden. I’m also building some raised beds for a kitchen garden/veg patch to accommodate more of the soil but this meant I needed to replace the dodge fence.. so I’ve dug 2 huge holes and concreted in some posts and I took down a tree. Then I’ve got 4 retaining walls to put up around the building. Now the grounds level with the new soil, I can lay the new turf but then I think I’ve got a fvck load of material (blocks, boards and timbers) being delivered soon so should I wait. The new grass will be destroyed.

Everything I do, leads on to something else that needs to be done before I can go back to the actual building lol. I’m spending 3 hours a night after work and about 8-10 hours on my days off. Touch wood we’ve had some good weather so far! I’m hoping by the end of this weekend I’ll be able to start putting in the footings.

I need to hurry as my gym closes in about 20 days. Then I’ll only have the sh!tty works gym.. not that’s I gym much anymore.

Tell you what tho, Kung Fu is not great when you ache from manual labour all day! I thought gym made you ache a bit but it’s got nothing on digging and carrying bags of concrete and slabs all day!

What you need is a Newcy my good man, I'm a monster of a labourer!
You've done the right thing with the extra 30cm,it would just bug you and you'd end up doing it anyway.
