Roughly how many hours a week do you work? 16

Is this optional or limited to the amount of work available? Depends on the venue, were I work is open 7 nights a week but 3-4 is plenty for me as I have to be up at six for my day job.

How much do you get per hr? £10.00-12.00

Did you get your gig/gigs through the company you trained with? no, word of mouth is your best option you generally need a someone you know who already works the door who will vouch for you if you get a good reputation you'll never be out of work, get a bad one and you'll never work again.

What City do you live/work in? Liverpool

    Thanks guys -

So it seems that it doesnt matter where you take the 3-4 day course as no one has got anywork from them anyhow?

Is £150 - 175 a fair price for the course? I've shopped around IN LONDON and it seems to be about right. They also offer to help you find work once you get your badge, shouldnt be a problem if they didnt though, plenty of contacts in gym etc

Some companies may put you through the course, and when you start work they take a little out of your weekly wage until you have paid back what they give you. However this is usually done with trusted people, I.E: friends of the owner of the company, or someone who has worked the door for the company before and knows the score.

I think I paid £200 for my course when I done it, £190 for 3 year license.

In reality there is no type of fighting, martial arts, self defence that can prepare you for working the door as I've seen a few good martial artists had there arse handed too them by a good street fighter.

But I think to help keep you on your toes some form of boxing type training, plus grappling will go a long way to helping you. MMA is becoming very popular, especially in Liverpool so potentially you could end up fighting a well rounded fighter on the door, not a pleasant thought. Luckily for me, most of the lads train at the gym underneath the bodybuilding gym I go to so I've got to know a few...

Working the door effectively is more about using your head/brain and your mouth than your fists..........but you need to be able to back up your words if it goes off.

Guy I know has been on at me to do doors with him quite a lot. Seems like too much hassle for me...

The thought of standing about chatting up women is appealing, but the rest of the hassle aint.

Pain is merely a part of life, to be embraced and understood, not crushed.

    Squat - 100kg
