Acne Trying benzoyl 5%

I've had really awful acne since i was 13 around my face and shoulders and ive tried

antibiotics (long courses)

actinac lotion (works okay but doesnt get rid of spots by any means, and burns skin making skin red )

roaccutane - dried up skin, didnt help acne after having been on it for several weeks, acne actually got worse somehow! and my lips were about 3 times normal size and constantly bleeding

Vit B5 (pantothenic acid) - tried, negligible effects and incredibly expensive

all sorts of face washes, cleansing pads, creams etc. and as of yet nothings worked so now im trying panoxyl gel which is basically benzoyl peroxide its something people on here have recommended and ill post up if it works. i hope it does cos ive had four years with this acne

if you're going through hell. keep going.

Benzyl peroxide at 5% wil severly dry your skin. You must moisturise with it mate or it will hurt like a biatch.

panoxyl aquagel (not acnegel) is 10% IIRC and i got on ok although roaccutane wa the best solution for me, although i am not a doctor, this is the route i would go

sainsburys have it OTC in their pharmacy

same with toxic, 10% is doing me fine. although do make sure you keep to your moisturising schedule and always cleanse before putting on your skin.

yes the aqualgel allows for a little more comfort due to a hydrating formula so you dont feel dry like the acnegel version at 10%

Stick with the accutaine......combat the sides and u'll be fine...the other items will never sort out the underlying problem, all u will do is dry out ur skin without stopping the main problem!
I know how u feel about the sides but the accutaine is the best option in the long run mate.
I know of some very good moisturisers to combat the dry cracking lips etc. if u r interested in trying the accutaine again.
