Addiction to Codiene?

Hi lads, what is classed as addiction?  I have been taking codiene for a while now but only 2 tabs of 30mg at night.  I find I can relax with the codiene and get a good sleep with it, the codiene also perks me up when im feeling down, which has been a lot recent. If I dont have them I feel tense and search the house for then just incase I find some.  Am I addicted or have I answered my own question by posting this?

Thanks

Swap them for some high dose fish oils!  Seriously.  I'm on 11.5g's of EPA and DHA and the pain in my back is almost gone, and my mood improves.  Not only are they safe, they are good for your health!!!

codeine is from the same family as  Morphine so it can get addictive

i got prescribed them for my back 30mg tabs with paracetomol in them but even if i took the full dose i could in the 24hrs still had pain in my back also made me feel a lil sick too

yes codeine gives u a nice floaty feeling , make ur brain feel like its on a big soft cushion, and gives u a really good sleep, i always use syndol for headaches as only thing that gets rid of them , cures hangover headaches a treat too

i wouldnt take them regulary tho as can make the painkilling side of them less effective so if you need it for pain relief it wont really work that well

so just keep it for pain relief tbh dont get into taking it to improve sleep or mood tbh

I seem to recall hearing the codeine is usually stacked with some type of chemical which makes you sick if you reach overdose/fatal limit.
Or perhaps its the codeine itself which makes you sick.

I would definately only use them when absolutely necessary.
I was prescribed some years ago after burst appendix/surgery, but I never used them much.

I guess if you have a valid medical reason, then use them, but be cautious all the same.

Is it pure codeine you are taking? Or co codamol(i.e with paracetamol)?
Because an overdosing paracetamol is certainly no laughing matter and should be stopped immediately.

It's an opiate and has addictive potential aye.

I think you've answered your own question that your behaviour with this drug is abuse. It's a painkiller, you haven't mentioned pain once in your post.

Codeine is addictive - it's also ace for hangovers

60mg of codeine and a nice lie down - it's like those 9 pints of wife beater never happened......

If you're taking it habitually I would stop now.

As mentioned, an opiate, very addictive, I've always avoided for that reason.

Yeah that relaxed feeling is so good but in the long run I suppose its still a crutch that is being used.

    Thanks
