Listen do as your told and apply common sense. Be slow to anger and slow to react you will get fuked off with nob heads.

If it kicks off remember to use force appropriate to the danger. If its a big ass brawl don't go hide in the bogs get stuck in otherwise you will be known as a pussy and people won't have your back.

Mainly just talk to people and be polite and nice. Its 90% of the job.

Oh and don't bang the girls you work with.

I have never done the doors but I know a few guys who do and they have a lot of time for Geoff Thompson's 'The Fence'.

Always stay polite and calm , never rush into a situation , Don't hide if it all goes off and just try to enjoy it....The first hour of my first night on the doors I felt constantly sick with nerves but funnily enough I calmed down once the first kick off had happened lol.

Enjoy it!

Nobody does the doors unless they fancy themselves a bit or want to put themselves to the test in one way or another.  Its an arena that you have put yourself into knowing the score.

Don't get upset or disappointed if you take a few hits getting someone out, its part of the job.

Don't get unnerved if some scrote chats shi* or disrespects you and don't hit him.

Don't keep eye contact with anyone for more than a second or two unless its going to go live or they are within striking distance of you.

Confidence is king!

I worked the doors for 3 years. Some of the worst/roughest clubs in the North West. This is the best advice in this thread.

Good luck for your first shift, they are many a d**khead when I go to town, to be fair the bars/clubs I go too aren't really that rough. Whenever stuff does kick off, the bouncers are usually within the scuffle kicking people out within seconds.

We get on really well with the more friendly bouncers as we're there regularly so we see the same faces but some are miserable as you like, this is probably because the club is full of idiots though.

I was out clubbing in Brighton a few weeks ago when a few lads took abit of a disliking to me and my mate, although we tried to difuse the situation it all kicked off. We held our own but we ended up getting kicked out and the lads that started it remained in the club? Not sure how that worked but just gotta accept it really haha.

Hope the first shift goes well!

Welsh Wizard take your point i will not be trying to do any fancy nancy martail arts but i mean wrist locks like goose hold, hammer locks etc where you can restrain someone very quickly and remove them immediately..... No roundhouse kicks lol !!

The Bar isnt the worst about its meant to be a decent crowd slightly older than some of the other spots not too much trouble It will prob be the bordem gets to me lol
