After injection I noticed something in syringe

Second week and injected my outer thigh, after injection and tidying up I noticed what looked like fluff inside the barrel.

I'm always really carefully I open green pin and slip it onto the barrel before I even fully remove the pin from wrapper and switching over to the blue pin is the same process so the barrel is uncovered for less than a second.

Anyway I looked and couldn't see anything in the barrel before I injected but after I noticed what looked like a dark fibre, my worry is now I'll get an infection even though it appears to have stayed in the barrel.

It was a dark coloured fibre, nothing that colour was in the room, I'm confused how it got there and I always have a good look in my vials before I draw to make sure it's clear.

I know heroin addicts don't exactly practice safe clean injections, but this is in my leg not my vein.
I'm sure it'll be fine since whatever it was stayed in the barrel

Is it a case though that if something was injected deep into the muscle that it will 100% cause an infection or is it possible that my body will naturally fight any infection?

Is it the same colour as the vials stopper?
I have had this happen, only in this case it was in the vial itself.
I had damaged the stopper with the needle when pushing it in;sort of "cored"a bit out with the larger needle.
There was a dark grey fluffy looking particle in the vial.
I got very worried until I realised what I had done.
I have never seen any inclusions in oils from W.C.

    Ignorance: Reassuringly Expensive.

Possibly it could have been from the vial, I have pierced it four times in total now and the rubber stopper looks to have a larger than usual pierced hole in it that usual

If it was part of the rubber stopper then it's less of a worry since its likely to be in one piece and won't pass through the blue pin - I filled the barrel with water tried to force it through the pin with no success.

If you injected it into your body the body will either try to reject it by pushing it out to the surface which is not likely in a deep intramuscular injection. If it does not become infected the body will form a pocket around it and be there for life. Sort of like some shrapnel wounds the shrapnel is just left in and doesn't cause a problem.

Thanks medic, it was the colour of the stopper so im hopeful that's what it was and the fact it was still in the barrel after injecting is a positive thing.

It must have been stuck to the plunger because I always check the barrel for foreign objects before injecting.

I take more care injecting than any professional has gave me, the girl in boots who gave me my flu jab didn't seem to fussed about wearing gloves or using an alcohol wipe for my arm.

It is most likely to be a fibre off the syringe plunger. The rubber of your plunger may have slightly torn. If so its most likely to be perfectly sterile so no real concern. Your body will try and fight an infection thats what the inflamation and heat is when an injection goes wrong. I would double check the rest of your barrells and slide the plunger in and out of the barrells a couple of times before even adding the needle. See if you get any fibres from the seal. If you get it on any more I would switch suppliers.

At first it was stuck to the plunger and only came loose after I added water and gave a shake, if it's either the rubber stopper or plunger I won't be worried but I will check the rest of the barrels

did you look in the vial? sometimes steroids fall out of suspension if they're too cold or have been sitting too long - it's easy enough to get them back into suspension agian but it kinda sounds like some of the hormone has fell out of suspension and crystalised at the bottom of the vial - kinda looks like a matrixy fluff

I'm leaning more towards it being a part of the rubber plunger, I checked the barrel with the oil in and couldn't see anything. It was after I injected I noticed it stuck to the the plunger and it only came loose after I filled it with water and shook it, then I tried to get it through the pin but it just got stuck so it's likely nothing entered my muscle apart from gear.

I was worried something non sterile entered the barrel but that's highly unlikely since I'm so careful.

I've had one vial of gear crash before, I'm assuming it crashed it looked like a small cloud in the middle of the gear but that was about four years ago. I always check the vial before and after I inject I'm paranoid I check and check again to make sure all is as it should be.

I've yet to check my other barrels to see if there is any defects on the plungers, I'll do that when I get time.

Pretty worrying at first seeing something foreign in your barrel after injecting, not really concerned now though and like medic said I'll need to wait and see there's not much else I could do.

yeah if the gear has fallen out of suspension it looks like a cloud in the vial

tbh if you were going to get an infection, you'd already have it so whatever was in the barrel was sterile and stayed in the barrel. think you're in the clear man
