Annoying sales people!!

Was in work today with my boss, (Its a small independent clothes shop where ive worked all through college and now at uni etc) and a bloke dressed in his next suit strolled in and asked:

"Can I have a minute of your time to talk about accident insurance?"

Boss

"No im busy sorry"

Smarmy salesman

"Does he (i.e. me) have any time?"

Me

"Sadly not im too busy having accidents."

Salesman talking to boss

" Do you know anyone who would like accident insurance?"

Boss

" Do you know anyone who would like to buy a shirt?"

Me

"hahahahahahaha"

Smarmy sales tosser turns around sharpish and vamooses!!

Following on from Righty's thread before were we out of order? haha

LOL,   we are getting pestered by a Supplement rep ATM , I won't say their name on here , but I am sure you can guess when I say the have just moved over to supplements from making a well known soft (energy)  drink
This guy simply won't take no for an answer and keeps throiwing disgusting  free samples at us   -  Every time we tell him his products aren't really for us , he retorts with   "Well , we have Just spent £28m researching this stuff ......."
I suppose it is good that they have persistance , but I think it is important for a salesperson to be able to spot when they wasting their time and move on !!

There are lots of smarmy w@nkers in all walks of life, sales is just well known for it because you get to talk to the idiot in question.  Lts of other industrys have them too but you dont get to meet them.

I worked in sales for 8 yrs and loved it.

Cold calling isnt easy and takes balls to do, whether it be face to face, on the phone or door to door etc. so i have a respect for anyone who approaches me and am never off with them as i know how difficult it can be.

£28m advertizing but research.... ha ha ha ha ha. What a lying (or not knowing) cock. If they'd spend £10.50 on 'research' they could have done a better job. Good lord.

He gave me the most disgusting "protein" bar I have ever tasted in my life !!  , on top of the fact that it tasted awful it contained something like 20g of protein and 40g of sugar ,   Now I am no nutrution guru , but when I told him that those ratios would not sell well (to our customers)   -  he started giving me all the "well ,  your body cannot absorb more than 20g of protein"       I asked him how he knew this , and we went back to the £28m research  ....

After I posted it occurred to me that they might spent that much over god only knows how many years but on ALL their research as opposed to on the new products.

Drives me mad, every supermarket in the country now has people (sometimes more than one) hassling you for breakdown cover, Sky+, credit cards, double glazing, you name it.

The gym even goes through phases of staff hassling you on your way in and out to get your mates to sign up in return for a free month's membership.  I don't want my mates to join, I want to come in, work out, and go again hassle free!

I rigidly stick with only buying things if I was looking for them, I will never accept a cold-call offer no matter how good it seems.

Easiest thing is to tell them you alread have what they are selling and you already buy it from them  -  this is the wife's tactic and it seems to work perfectly  -   Took me a while to catch on , and I tried to correct her once when she was telling the AA guy we were already members

Yeah, this wins every time.  (and is true in terms of RAC!)

I'm sick of getting sales calls through the landline though, I opted for x-directory and still get them.  Only plugged a phone into it a couple of weeks ago as I'm looking for work.  Since then, I've had 2 "employers" trying to sell me training schemes "while we look for work on your behalf" and one just now asking about bank charges.  Cnuts.

The chances of someone contacting me at the exact time that I am looking for their product is next to zero.

On top of that the chances that the person contacting me also has the very best deal on that product is even less likely whatever they say.

So I just refuse all offers and when I want something, i'll go looking for it.

I am the same. Even if they did sell by chance some thing I wanted. My defence barriers would have gone up and prevented the sale.
