Any fishermen on here?!

Any avid fishermen on here?

I used to do a lot of river fishing and big carp fishing when i was a kid until i was about 15 then stopped cos i was playing football all the time.

Im thinking of starting this up again and getting all the gear again. I sold it all years ago

So what will i need to get going again? im after good quality equipment thats not gonna break the bank.

What is good stuff to go for?

What gear will i need for river/lake fishing?

What equipment for big carp fishing?

Ive got Clothing and a Bivvy/tent still.

Cheers!

Ok for carping you could go on to a forum which is www.Bangonbaits.com which is a very good site

For carping i would use or a standard setup would be 2 rods 2 1/2 lb test curve with 2 baitrunner reels cost around £150
    Bite alarms x 2 £20
Line weights hooks braid etc £50 or so for good gear
Landing net unhooking mat weigh sling £20
Thats all i would say for carp but you can get gear which is expensive my stuff is around 2 grand or so but its the best

Now for match fishing you could use a pole around12metres for £100 or so
£50 or so for a good match rod and reel
Landing net and keep net £20
    seat box £10
terminal tackle floats line hooks etc £30

Thats about it dude i hope that helps.
    Happy angling

lol if you wanted to fish for carp on the cheap id buy
a decent ish reall preferebaly a baitrunner
a rod rest with a bite indicator on it or make one out of a bit of bread or a piece of grass hung on the line you could make a rod rest from a stick aswel lol
a rod no need for an expensive one if u dont want to cast far as long as it can handle the peressure of the fish
    a leisure weight
a split shot to set the lead length
    a hook
and some bait luncheon meat was always my favourite
that is the cheapest set up out and although basic ive caught many a 20lb plus carp in my youth with that lol if it isnt ovious me and dad used to fish on a use what you can find basis always worked a treat tho

its when you use illuminous floats to detect a bite. It has a strobe effect on the fish - they dance. Its cool.

what bait did you use mait. Thats a mighty fine fish. Did you return him? Im aware some fisheries frown on the pike as the effect they can have on the fish stock.

I think i was using roach there.

Thats two different fish, bottom one was 15 pounds, top one 15, middle one 12.

    Yes, always put them back.

I highly doubt it, most places where pike are available are actually waters stocked with pike to bring in the pike fishers, don't think is many wild pike hotspots around the UK

Its different mate, to be honest before i went for the first time i thought it was tedious, etc...

But i went, caught my first fish, and its brilliant.

So relaxing, can just have a decent day fishing, etc...
