Anybody know about emmigrating?

Hmmm

chances of getting approved to go to OZ with my dad, he has already been approved for his visa etc etc.

I have a grandmother over there, aswell as a half bro, half sis, nieces nephews etc etc.

I also have a criminal record, ABH :-(

what do you think the odds are?

I thought a criminal record was a pre requisite?

Seriously though if you could get a visa to live and work there on the back of your old man id go for it.

Australia wouldnt be my first choice destination if i moved abroad but i know many that love it and it can be difficult to get accepted into the country on a long term basis.

A mate had his application in and was told due to the credit crunch they only let in 100k a year

there are set rated groups.i cant recall them but like ones that have work ones that haves skills, ones that have familys
and you get entry based on what group and the 100k comes from all of them but at the moment they arent processing any applications till they have cleared the current back log from the lower ratings ,which at the moment is 80k

My pal was expected to go within the next month and now he hasnt even got a date,he has a job and accom everything ready,he's a doc youd think they would have his arm off to go

Everyone has been in shape, but not everyone is IN shape, its about where your going not where you have been.

Bruicie, that sounds odd mate, I got into Oz as a "professional" in 3 weeks what visa is he going in on? That can make a huge difference.

As for emigrating I am off to Canada this year, permanent residency visa's finally arrived after 4 years!

That sucks though, mind you if you want to do things the legit way it takes ages, I bet if he just went on holiday and got a job over there the visa would be obtained much more quickly, it's a very odd system

Any specific reason?  I don't reget leaving NZ and have no plans to ever go back, but I'm not going to be here for much longer.

I would like my children to to grow up with their grand parents, cousin's etc. I just like the laid back lifestyle, weather etc.
I have made enough money over here so the lower wages is not an issue.

Understand the kids thing, I don't have any nor likely too so not really a factor for me.

It's easy to leave lol, South Auckland isn't a nice place.  You just hope arcoss the Tasman and you will usually get a 30% better income and much more opportunity.  I earned twice in Aussie what I could get in NZ.
