Anyone ever heard of the big 6?

Yes people,

Was just wondering if anyone has heard of this? I was talking to a man about it once, he said to build mass, and get a good shape before starting to tone up on isolated areas. He recommended doing 6 compound moves to build on my shape and to develop my delts which would give a illusion of being bigger......

If anyone has heard of this, would u help me out and list 6 key compound exercises that would work my body giving it mass, and shape,

cheers

I think the 6 main compound movements are:

    Squats
    Deadlift or Stiff legged deadlift
    Bench or Dip
    Overhead Press
    Chin/Pulldown

They cover practically all your bodies musculature. Form a routine based around those exercises and you can't be far wrong IMO.

*edit* Ok i seem to have only thought of 5

I reckon you use every muscle in your body doing a cartwheel, but if I told you to go do that for a great beach body you'd laugh at me.

The guy had given you some good advice (use compounds), but don't listen to hard and fast rules like "Only 6!" thats just a load of ****ing crap. Don't get too one dimensional with your training, or your results will be too.
