Anyone live in/from Australia?

We recently went to Melbourne and noticed the lack of youths hanging around everywhere like you get in the UK.

None hanging about on the street, in the parks, around the shops.

Does Australia not have a 'chav' problem, or are they just segregated more?

Is it generally more crime free/safer than the UK?

Cheers.

depends where you go... Aus has plenty of problems and crime and danger spots but not usually in the "nice" areas... plus its based on an outdoor activity lifestyle which changes the game and when it gets really hot you really dont want to be outside...

Yeah property prices were always high but cost of living has skyrocketed.

Tents looked cheaper than the UK when we had a quick look. Not sure about buying though.

Eating our and drinking isn't cheap though! But is it much less in the UK now?

They do get a paid more over there though so I guess it balances out.

no they dont... unless you mean 45000 dollars as opposed to 20000 pounds then yeah the numbers are higher but actual money isnt really... cost of living is huge now way more than it used to be, eating out is more expensive (even mcdees) and if you think fish and chips have got expensive here you should try sydney (suburbs) where youre paying £4.50 for a small large chips (although it does have chicken salt which is awesome so swings I guess)... we have been shocked every time we go back to see the family at how much things are now...
